They don't come up that often, but two sold in the last week and there is another for sale now! Amazing to see and a great source of reference. Although the ones sold look to have sat in a sock draw most of their life, the one selling now is wearing its Wabi proudly, interesting that the lume dots on this one are quite large, maybe a genuine Pilot watch? I'd love to know more. This is mine and about as close as I'm ever going to get to the real thing. This is the current watch for sale. Hoping someone on this forum bought one of these! page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/h273822612page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/m210462089

Very much doubt I'll ever add one of these - I have a hangup on war watches from (then) hostile powers. Is that weird?

One on side my grandfather earned two purple hearts dropping ordinance in flying fortresses over occupied France, and on the other both of my grandparents were Hungarian Jews interned in concentration or work camps (my grandmother was the only survivor of 11 siblings). I own quite a few WWII-era Seiko/Seikosha models though, often with militariana (ribbons, knives, pictures, etc.). I tell myself that unless I'm holding a timepiece that belonged to Himmler or Tojo, it's just an interesting piece of history that belonged to some poor terrified kid who was a pawn to madmen. I couldn't own any German piece that had Nazi iconography on it because of the ideology it inherently conveyed, though. Weird line to draw, maybe?

More specifically I have a hangup about battlefield pickups. Something just gives me the creeps about handling spoils of war, even if they were enemies at the time.

I have no problem if you were in the trenches and earned or owned it. Tag it and bag it. Don't put a Dragon sticker on your bike / car if you didn't ride it. Even if you rode it don't put a Dragon sticker on it if it wasn't the bike you did it on. Bad Karma. Faking the funk. Studio gangsta. I never met Roger or his family and I don't brag that I did so I have no link to this one. Now if Hank shows up at work with the 62MAS or 6105 he bought at the PX when he shipped out and wants me to "hold on to it" to pass the history on to the next worthy vetted soul then so be it and I would be proud to do so.
