OK, as some of you will already know & chucked some money at an SKX011 of ebay. When it arrived I was very happy with it to say the least. Nice & original, touch of nice genuine Wabi. Even on the original Z22 Rubber strap. All good except it had a bit of "Stop-Start" action going on!! Grrrr!!
So, off it went to Duncan. Cannop of this Parish. This is the magic he did:-
First striped it down.
Loving that orange dial!!
Then he found the trouble, in his own words "The first thing I did was check the rotor before removing the movement and as I suspected, the centre screw was loose (see arrowed photo). This meant the rotor would have been moving laterally (up and down) which would allow it to catch on the caseback and mainplate and stop it rotating. The reason the watch kept stopping was it wasn't getting wound! The screw is tight now, and the movement has about 40hrs power reserve so that should be the end the stop start problems. The amplitude is great and the beat error is almost zero so it's actually in great shape mechanically."
And as he had the watch open I took advantage & asked him to fit a new Crystal. May as well, after all, you dont know when she'll be open again.
After putting it all back together, siliconing the seals & a final, crucial test.
Presure test, passed with flying colours!!! woohoo-dancing-banana-smiley-emoticon
The finished result, WOW!!
Arrived back this morning, couple of picks, on a orange/black Zulu (had put the Z22 onto my 6309 while the SKX was at Duncans)
And finally as nature intended, on the Z22. Quick wrist shot.
All in all, I'm a very, very happy boy. It's a nice watch made great by a fellow forum member. Thanks Duncan for all your amazing work (AGAIN!)
Although all my watches are on Rubber or Nato's. I am kinda tempted to pop this on on a Bracelet. I think it would be one of the best alround watches in my collection. Cool, accurate & reliable. With a bracelet & think it would "dress-up" a little too. Can even use it for some full-on diving!! What more could a WIS want?
And hopefully the Orange dial will forfill my Doxa-Envy for a while!
Please note, apart from the last two picture all the images were taken by Duncan, for which I'm very greatful thunbsup.gif
