Hmmm... Makes me wonder how much the gold Speed-Timers have appreciated lately. Last I saw one of the Sunrises on YJ it was below 1k USD.

Nice examples and a great write up Jon! But, like all things Seiko, just when we think we have it figured out, a wrench is thrown in the works and we discover our speculation was incorrect......... I've got Teal and here's my, all original as far as I can tell, 7060 dated April of 73'........... Well Tom this is great, I just found another April 1973 Teal 6139-7060 on Yahoo Japan. So while the -6002 Sunrise Pogue has only ever been seen with Nov. and Dec. 1972 case backs, it does appear the 6139=7060 Teal was made 11/72, 12,72 and 4/73. Click on pix to enlarge:

Hi Jon,
Thanks for the fantastic writeup and comparison. I completely blame you for my current Sunrise Obsession as you have been the Chief Enabler (I really wanted to use the word Chief). Thanks again!

Hmmm. Currently looking at a -7060 dated Feb. '76. Would this still be original or a mix 'n' match? Bracelet is AM of course.

That said, this one you show is a green dial variant (as opposed to teal). I suspect Feb. 1976 is correct

Jon, Since the last showing I've managed to complete the collection of all 5 dial colours Thanks Jon Its one of my favourites. I may have had a sneaky showing some time ago. Its sister also says Hi which i note is also a 2N serial number She is a beauty Brad - have we seen that one before here on WristSushi? Thank you for confirming the 2N case back, with the exception of Tom's above that's all I have ever seen. I consider it my big contribution to the teal sunrise historical horology effort since I've never seen anyone post about this topic anywhere else, and I've been watching these production dates closely for a long time now.

Thanks for the info.

Hello, I bought recently the green variant of 6139-7060 made in November 1973: I have also the original bracelet which I removed it until I can resize it(most watch shops ans service points are closed in my country due to the covid). I read this informative post and i have a question. I was looking the japanese watch catalogs fom Seiko that are in the plus9 website and the earlier catalog mentioning this watch, is the 1973 catalog, yet someone mentioned here that this reference came out in 1972. Is there a catalog that I didn't found;

Great looker there.
I believe the 1972 catalog is not yet posted to any web site, oddly. I take it to mean they never issued one, but who knows.

Great thread Jon and fellow Sushi's! Although these vintage chronos are not necessarily in my wheelhouse, I admire the passion and enthusiasm as evidenced here. Good stuff.

Hi guys, I just got a teal 6139-7060 with a 36xxxx serial number. The watch has what looks to be original strap and possibly original box. It has good yellow accents and hands etc seem correct. In other words it seems to be un-molested and nice condition. What I am getting at is if all the strap, box etc are original surely its the original caseback too? And this would then be an anomaly to the theory about 2N serials for 7060āsā¦ Let me know your thoughts. I am a small collector of Seiko dive watches but this is the first speed timer and only real vintage watch I own so am new to this type. Cheers
