Well that's more money I'll be spending this year. I was floating around on the net after a shift and spotted a YT vid for Eaglemoss Military Magazine , and it comes with a "replica" watch - WHAT!! Quick search on Ebay brings up a seller in Australia with a '1940's Italian Military Diver" watch and mag - well it's ofcourse a PANERAI of some sort, not exactly based on a particular model though. Looks ok in the image, and a Panerai for the BIN of $19.99 I took a "suck and see" look. The movement is cheap s/Epsom quartz (seems accurate so far), case is supposed to be SS (hmmm , maybe) and is SUPER bling, bling shiney .. the strap is supposed to leather and is marked as such ( yer, SURE). I am , within the realms of what a cheap quartz can offer, quite impressed - it's certainly not as crap as I thought it may be, and has had quite a few DAYS of wrist time already. It's light (there's nothing inside that BIG case - lol) and actually very comfortable to wear .. and I've got a Panerai look for 20 bucks. Bugger spending $8,000.00 -

Further to the above - I quickly am into this Eaglemoss mess to the tune of 20 more mags and watches (on the way) and a subscription to the rest of the mags that are left to come out - WHAT HAVE I DONE!! Plus now I'm buying other cheap quartz rubbish to do a comparison .. your a fool Michael- I tell myself that a LOT by the way . LOL Oh the shame ..

Yeah. I got 20 or so a few years ago until I found the series ran to hundreds. The watches are probably as good as stuff sold for a hundred bucks. Family members have been wearing them in instances where a watch gets knocked around. It takes around a year to destroy them. Cheers Phil

That is the real laugh with cheap quartz watches, most of them have Hattori PC21 movements in them, run for a couple of years and then stop, add a new battery and run for a couple more years, and when it buggers up spend $4 and fit a new movement - cheap junk!

I don't expect much from these cheap and cheerfull timepieces, and so far have not been too disappointed.
I'm sure that I don't have to tell you guys that most all military watches were manufactured by one of the larger watch companies under contract to a government, so I'm geeting the basic "look" of a vintage time piece made by the likes of Laco / Omega / Hamilton / Stowa / IWC / Longinesa / Lamania / Seikosha, etc with some ease.
Mainly getting the ones I like the look of though, and that are either impossible to get (Japanese Kamikaze pilots watch from Seikosha ) or are at what I think are at an unjustifiable cost (Panerai).

Well I've gone a little overboard on these timepices, but these do look like fun. A new stack arrived today. So far I'm pleasently suprised with what has arrived. Quite acceptable if you keep in mind the unusual subjects, low price and compare them to the other cheap quartz generic items available for sale on the net. As mentioned in an above post I've gone ahead and purchased some cheap ($5.00 .. INCLUDING SHIPPING - WHAT!! ) quartz from China to compare these Eaglemoss offernings to. I don't mind doing individual reviews on these if anyone wants them.
