Aloha Sir, Simply a .... " AWESOME WATCH " , and a Beauty too. I always look for them when I am searching. They come up rarely and with a good price to them. This is a Very Special One and now it is yours. I hope you have a special box for these that you collect. I just love looking at it but I would say .... IN THE FLESH ... it looks like a complete gem. Aloha Louis

Beautiful. Does it have a 'model number' of any type, or does it predate that?

Beautiful Watch and in Fantastic Condition. Of all the Seiko Military watches your Dial is my favorite. Lumed hour markers and those incredible hands. I especially like your watch as it has a 24 military outer Bezel. Stunning Watch! Congratulations!!!

Careful with the radium... This is a reading I took from a bunch of pre-war NOS dials. Background here is 0.05-0.02 mSv/h. The bad news is that new research shows that even though you're safe from alpha and beta's for the most part, the Radon does build up if you have a few of these sitting around in a poorly ventilated area. I don't want to detract from what is an amazing piece, it's just that the damn things aren't great for you.

I had a beautiful Omega Seamaster from the early 50's with what I suspected was a radium dial. I worked on a military base that had a number of folks doing nuclear stuff. I asked someone I know to check how 'hot' the Omega was. He called me a couple days later, handed me back the watch and basically asked why I'd want to wear something that *might* cause me trouble down the road if I wore it. I sold the watch, but I'll admit I wish I'd kept it and simply work it infrequently enough that it wouldn't matter.

I like to live dangerously... I just bought this one but might need to store it deep underground in a lead-lined vault

I like to live dangerously... I just bought this one but might need to store it deep underground in a lead-lined vault Thatβs a real beauty! Thanks for the Kind Words! Watch is not running but the crown operates the hands. I have not been able to take off the caseback to have a look at the movement. From the condition of the watch I am hoping the Seikosha movement can be fixed. Is there a Go-To person for servicing the early Seikosha movements? I would also like to find a Japan WWII Military Watch band for the watch but I'm not sure where to look?

Wow, the stories that watch could tell! Any clues to its provenance? That is one wonderful addition to your collection.

Hi. These watches have a simple hand winding movement based on Swiss movements from the era. They are often identical to a Cyma movement and were possibly a drop in ebauche. Servicing is rather basic. Cheers Phil
