Forums, mostly. Recently, the majority are trades. I have only bought one watch outright this year.

All the normal suspects. However, I recently acquired a 7002-7009 from an individual who owns an antique store in Upstate NY. After a few conversations over the phone now have a rapport with one another. A decent chunk of his inventory consists of vintage watches including Seiko. I sent him a list of watches I had particular interest in and have him on the lookout. Sort of a neat resource. He’s a character. Mows his yard wearing a 6105 he’s had since the 70’s. Good to have boots on the ground in a different state even if they aren’t your own.

Ebay and forums got my 2 votes, but running close behind I use Yahoo Japan (via Buyee) and definitely Authorized Dealers too. Just limited to 2 votes.

I usually tell my wife the watch fairy brought them. Your wife sees your new watches? That’s a dangerous sport right there!

Mostly YJ the past couple of years and the forums. I haven't used eBay apart from selling in quite a while, around 2 years I guess!

I see alot of people here using Yahoo JP. Do you guys use a middleman? Yes - I've always used buyee.jp, but others may use a different company. Best to choose the one which suits you.

I see alot of people here using Yahoo JP. Do you guys use a middleman? Got started with Buyee and not motivated to seek any other proxy.

I use Buyee as well. Gave up on eBay altogether. Rob I'm on the verge of giving up on Ebay as well. It's hard to find a good untouched watch on Ebay now a days. Or at least it seems that way.

I tried opening an account with yahoo Japan through the help of Google translate but got stuck with the Japanese caption part lol. Is it true that the auction timing towards the end works differently than eBay? As in if someone else out bids you during the last 30 minutes, it would just reset the counter.

I think it's hard to beat ebay specially from a buyers perspective, mainly because if you use paypal it's a peace of mind as you know your money is safe...

Go through Buyee or an equivalent proxy. You don’t need to navigate the true Yahoo Japan at all. Your account is with Buyee, not YJ. The English version of Buyee works well. I’ve always thought that the bidding process is better than eBay, though at times slightly odd things have happened.
