Thank you all so much for your contributions to the Monday WRUW Thread. So many prized watches. We will continue the best purchase or favorite wears of 2018 Today is a great day at my place- This is a 7a38 that I picked up from Brazil of eBay. I was dubious but all was well on its arrival. For those who don’t have one, they are a great wear and appeal to even some of the most seasoned Auto/mechanical purists. Check out the review in fratello watches www.fratellowatches.com/tbt-seiko-7a38-chronograph/I look forward to seeing and reading about your wrist wear if 2018. Cam

One of my equal favourite additions for the year. The 39J Seikomatic Selfdater J13.083. I’m not usually a fan of gold watches, but this gold-cap piece is different. It’s my version of an early GS!

Not a fan of the hands on that 39 jewel, but I love the watch! For me, the starlight cocktail time: Oh, and happy 40th birthday, camrok!

Many happy returns of the day camrok ! Today’s offering was one of those opportunities that was too good to pass up. When I picked it up, it was in a pretty sorry state - complete but only part assembled, and those bits that were assembled were filthy. Prior to working on this I’d never tackled a chronograph before and I approached the rebuild with a lot of trepidation, especially as siralan reckoned the 6138 calibre was more difficult than even the Bellmatic. It took me several attempts to get it to a state where it would even run, and then it still had significant issues. And it still has those issues - it won’t run if the chrono is engaged as the minute recording jumper doesn’t jump, chrono stop/start and flyback don’t function, one wrong sub-dial hand, and wrong sweep hand. But, with the chrono stopped it actually keeps decent time and shows pretty good results on the timegrapher. I guess it’s one of those pieces that you look at and ask yourself ‘is it worth the bother trying to get it right?’ With the dial patina it’s never going to be a looker, it sure ain’t no museum piece like bertnet recently picked up (even his daily wearer beats this hands-down) and I’m not convinced I could really make it any better. That said, it’ll probably be the only example of its kind that I’ll own so, for now, it’ll stay in a bit of a sorry state. I’m not precious about it so maybe I’ll look to move it on next year to someone who can give it the TLC it deserves. Until then, I’ll enjoy it the way it is.

Happy 40th birthday, camrok. I hope there was some spoiling going on in the Camrok household today. Some more lovely favourites today. This one has become a regular wearer because it sits on my bedside cabinet as a quick swap if I need something robust when I get home from work. Today I'm going to highlight the unspoken dangers of watch tinkering. Behind the watch, if you can shift your focus, you will see the damage done when the heavy microphone stand of a timegrapher is dropped on an unprotected big toe.

Here's one that's right up there in terms of new acquisitions. I was interested to learn that Seiko had finally released a modern rendition of the venerable 6309. Although I was leaning towards non-diver styles and have a couple of 6309's already, I figured why not? I'll spare you the rationalization process...

Another case queen that I should wear but don't. Again fear of giving it a wack against something. I had the orange and blue titatiums but moved them on years ago due to worries about their ease of marking but kept this stainless example. Maybe 2019 will be it's break out year but I have my suspicions. Like the Monsters this took a little warming to but has a nice prescence on the wrist.

Two things I love in a watch, besides appearance, is a good bargain, and good accuracy. This one exceeds in both categories.
