Gee whiz, I'm not sure I've ever done this before! (Spoiler! I'm lying! ) You may not know but I have been a big fan of the Orient Mako watches since they first came out. I love the numeral dial, those big, sword main hands, the arrow-headed second hand, the bezel, the case, the bracelet, I liked it all. EXCEPT...As I wore them, I realized the extra pusher that sets the day is one of the stupidest complications I've ever seen on a watch! There are no months with different day of the week! What you want is an independent way to set the date, not the day. So without disturbing the main crown you can make that small date adjustment at the beginning of a new month. I vowed up and down the Internet to harass Orient about this. "Make these with an independent DATE pusher, or with NO pusher, and I will buy them all over again!" Well sure enough Orient came out with the "Mako II". Basically the identical watch in every way, except NO STUPID DAY PUSHER!! Okay, Thomas. Remember what you vowed?? Yes, yes, yes, I remember. And I have been looking for a "good opportunity". And what I did this morning is go on Massdrop and order 3 Orient Mako II watches, for only US$130 each! No shipping, no tax, woohoo! Okay, what's next in that complicated "mind of Thomas"? Well, I think it's obvious, " How am I going to get an orange and yellow Mako II?" Well, I doubt I'm ever going to get a chance to pick up another yellow Mako, to use it's dial in a Mako II, but I do see the orange Mako now and then! So my plan for now is to buy an extra, black Mako II - then grab the next reasonable orange Mako I can find, take it's dial, chapter ring and so forth along with a second hand with the tip painted black, and make my own orange Mako II! Woohoo! I think I am succumbing to "Spring Fever", where the increased sunlight and warmer weather make us act a bit silly! - Thomas .

Thomas, I like your choices. I think that Orient Makos are some of the nicest looking and well designed diver out there These are also a really great bang for the buck compared to the least expensive Seiko SKX.

I saw that today and also like that the pusher is gone...That said I made no such vow and there are others on my list ahead even at that killer price.

I had all of the 1st Gen Makos except the yellow. There was a significant price penalty for that one. As you might guess, they are all gone. Not a bit sorry that the pusher is gone.

Very nicely done Thomas. The Orient Mako has always been a great watch and an incredible value. Now without the pusher you like them even more - bonus !!! Guess I’m headed over to Massdrop soon ! You are an ENABLER P.S. - That’s a good thing
