Not sure how many here were watching this one on eBay. (233127761629) One of our members bought a mint one last year or the year before, I think it cost more than my first house! I was honestly surprised this didn't fetch more even in the shape it was in...Anyone else thing it was a deal?

Go to advance search and make sure to check the sold auctions...

Looks like it sold back in January too..
That never excites me to see auctions re listed.. Perhaps the seller was expecting more.

The entire back side of the movement is missing / gone. Good luck reviving it. Chapter Ring on the top of the dial missing.
So basically a case.
I followed it in January and again this week. Kept asking myself "could I drop in parts out of a 5717 or 5719?" but then I slapped mysrlf awake.

I missed the January sale not sure what it sold for then, in my mind though because of the rarity it would have brought more...

I recall seeing that and thinking that it had to be the remnants of a donor watch. There were a lot of parts missing - parts that would be unique to this model. I think it only had value as a donor. I can't imagine it ever being operational without its own donor. Any chance of that?

Had that one in my watch list just out of interest, and I remember it from recently too when there was a thread mentioning it either here or at the other place. It’s a watch I’d love to own, but that isn’t a good starting place. To be fair thought the listing does call it spares project.

The watch in question sold for over 2 grand last time around. I have to wonder if it got returned.

That's an awful lot of money for that pile of dung . . . . . rare or not. I could see a guy like Spencer being interested in it (since he has a huge parts inventory) at the right price for a restoration project but other than that, I just can't see it, but then again, what do I know.

Well I’ve just checked both listings and it appears that it was the same buyer both times for the same final bid give or take. I think I’ll draw my own conclusions from that. *edit. rechecked it. Maybe it’s not the same buyer, I can’t tell. Same first and last letter which is what drew my attention before. Maybe a coincidence.

Equally possible that the buyer backed out. That watch is rare...and rough.

This was it.. Don't know - maybe there are some parts from a 5717 or 5719 that could be used, but there would be unique parts too.
