.Some time ago,I thought it would be nice to have a clean, simple, rectangular dress watch. I have heard this style called a "tank" watch, but the style reminds me of neither a fish tank nor a military one! In any case, I looked and looked but could never find what I wanted. Being who I am, I want a mechanical movement, and for the sake of thinness, I guess it should be a hand-wind. But a really good hand-wind!! And as much as I prefer "smaller" watches, what I mean by that is 38 mm across, not 27 mm!! So here it is, my design for a tank dress watch. (That is the lobby of the Boston Opera house, if you did not recognize it right away!) I went with "shrouded" lugs to keep the height reasonable. Here are the dimensions. Wow, wouldn't it be nice to buy a nicely sized rectangular watch for a change? And how about that big hand-wind crown? And while many consider "gold" as a feature for a dress watch, I would prefer a silver colorway, myself. Come on Seiko!

I thought it was my grandmother's wallpaper in the front hallway
I like it very much. Nice work. I like the Dauphine hands and vintage style. Crown is cool too and it should be a semi-precious stone to cap it off. In my opinion it would need to be real gold, either yellow or white, and real alligator for the strap. No imitation stuff. Maybe the jewel count or other one word saying at the bottom, written in a nice vintage style script.

I am not so fond of tank design but this is nicely done. congrats! I would have preferred a slightly thicker rim because I find the 22mm between lug is a bit wide compared to the frame. also, the dial is lacking of depth IMHO. Regarding the high end range it aims, I think you can expect something something that catch the eye a little more. Maybe you can have a concept with unique casing proposal upon customer request 😁

.Hello folks, By popular demand, I am working on proportionally correct, but smaller designs. Using a factor of 0.951, I get a "medium" sized version that is 36.5 mm by 40 mm. But it ends up using a 21 mm strap, which is a bit of an odd size. I'm sure if this case size is "the winner" and most folks want a 20mm strap, that would be a very minor design change. I would prefer a silver colorway, in every size! - Thomas .

Nice design Thomas, but I think the dial needs some text in the lower half between the 4 and 8 hour markers. I mean, all the classic vintage variants have something there!

.Hello again folks, By popular demand (thank you both!), I am working on proportionally correct, but smaller designs. :-D Using a factor of 0.91, I get a "small" sized version that is 35 mm by 37.3 mm with 20 mm strap lugs. (You know what? I think this is the size. :-| I am going to have to print some out life-size and tape them to my wrist!!) :-D) The point of this version is to have a 20 mm strap. :-) Of course, I would prefer a silver colorway, in any size! ;-) - Thomas .

If Seiko were to make three or four variants, I think I know someone who'd buy the whole set 😆

Now, now. If I like a certain model/design enough to spend my hard-earned money for, isn't it natural that I might also consider another version of the same model/design attractive?
And I have plenty of "incomplete" families, because I only liked two or three of the several versions on offer.
So, I don't think I really have "set-itus" like some poor Casio collector trying to get every color.

(And don't tell anyone, but if I was one away from a full set, I might occasionally pick up the last one, in the fantasy that when I start selling them all, I'll get a better return on the "full set". Notice I've already said it's a fantasy, okay? ) .

while others have mentioned more text, I'm fine with what's there. I like teh Silver/white in your last version. I would prefer Blued Hands to add some contrast...

I felt like your vision was lacking something that seems to define every modern Seiko. So I fixed it for you!

I like your design. If I were to add a dress watch to the collection, I definitely wouldn’t mind one of these. One can hope...
