I’ve been tasked with cleaning up a friend’s 166.089 Seamaster but wondered if anyone here has any experience with them.
First, I’ve found a couple walkthroughs for the 752 mov’t but wonder if anyone has an actual service manual or knows what equivalent mov’t it might be based on
Second is the crystal. It appears to be glass, is that correct? It also appears to be pressed into a plastic ring in the case, is that correct.
It’s seen some water and the case is pretty heavily polished. Owner knows this. His collection otherwise is extremely impressive so he gets a pass on this one.
It looks like an acrylic tension ring type crystal, whether it's correct or not, I don't know.
I've yet to find a service manual all these years, so I would be interested myself if you found one, but Stuart is right, these are pretty straightforward. If you've serviced a swiss movement then you'll know what to expect.

Thanks all. Yeah, service guides are nonexistent I guess. Found the parts list on cousins. Be nice to see an oiling guide for it, though I guess as stated it’s not so different from anything else. Mostly need to pick up a bunch of replacement screws and maybe a new barrel/arbor/ms.
Case is what it is. My friend realizes it’s polished heavily but is content with that. He’s more of a chrono guy and his small collection is quite impressive. So this is more of a beater that he would like to having running well. Oh, and a nicer chapter ring.

Hey Adrian! Been wondering where you’d got off to.
It has a screw down back. So, that easy enough.
Yeah, it’s a mineral glass crystal. I was concerned about sourcing the seal so hadn’t messed with it yet. Would love to source a chapter ring that is cleaner but if the seal for the crystal is going to pose a problem it’s probably not worth it
Kind of disappointed about the service guide situation. It’s obviously not too unique a design but I figured Omega would have offered some supporting docs.
It's assumed you know what to do with it so no service or oiling guides were made from what I'm aware of.
The crystal looks like mineral glass pressed into a urethane seal. The urethane seals are a bastard to source.
Does it have a back or monocoque case?

I wasnt sure about the case numbering as sometimes the extra 0 in the number could be a different case.
If you need to be certain of the part numbers, Al (Archer) on Omega Forums and WUS will often provide the info, he's a certified Omega watchmaker and has access to all the numbers etc
