I am watching a series called Time Team. One of the episodes was a dig that discovered a lot of Iron Age jewellery like neck rings(Torcs) and bracelets. They always have artisans on site who can replicate what the diggers find and in this episode they showed how to replicate the neck rings and bracelets.
It was intriguing so I decided to try my hand at making an Iron Age copper bracelet. I had some copper wire from an electric motor winding that seemed about the right gage and I went at it.
Five minutes later, I had this...
I don't know how the Vikings managed to do it but I used an electric drill to spin the wires

Maybe their drills were hydraulic ? cool stuff Peter. Maybe but they made wire the hard way. They started off with square or rectangular rods the heated and pounded them into long thin wire I'm going to play with this idea some more. Maybe even make some Torc neck rings!
