It's always great finding a group of people who share your interests. A while ago I acquired a 1984 Honda scooter that was only manufactured for 1 year. What are the odds but I found a forum with people who offered advice and useful info on how to restore that old scooter. I ran into Wrist Sushi after struggling to restore my dad's old Seiko. I still remember the day, sometime in the early 80s, when I walked into a jewelry store with my mom looking for a gift for my dad. My mom saw a shiny new 6309 diver and immediately knew my dad would love it. My dad wore that watch every day until he passed 6 years ago. I inherited the watch and it sat in my dresser drawer till recently. The 7th anniversary of his passing is coming up and I started to feel a need to wear that watch. This watch is the one physical object that I still have and that I know was with him every day. To my disappointment the watch was no longer functional. A local repairmen said that there are no available parts. I sent the watch to the Seiko Repair Center and they sent it back saying the same thing (frustrating). Just like that old scooter I restored, I'm willing to learn the skills to get this watch running if I can't find a willing and capable repair person.

Ahh many of us have traveled that same road. My journey started looking to do the same thing with a watch from my grandfather! I got a great amount of help here, and managed to get it running fantastic.
There should be a "walk through" from several years ago where there was a group repair on that very movement. Never be afraid to ask questions and don't be discouraged if the answers aren't immediate. Having been a member of other forums that scream USE THE SEARCH FUNCTION, I doubt you will ever get that here. So ask away.

Thx, I'm looking forward to starting the project. I also have a serious addiction to tools so this gives me a perfect excuse to acquire new ones

I hope you get it running again. I recently lost my father and I feel your thoughts. Memories stay!
