Hello from the desert southwest! I discovered this site doing research on a Seiko World Time I received as a gift from my father (an all original 6117-6409, Dec 1971, white linen dial). There are a couple of good posts that lead me here via Google, one on the 6217 and another on the 6117. I currently have 3 vintage Seiko World Time watches (the above mentioned 6117-6409 with white dial from 1971, a 6117-6400 with black dial from 1976 and a 6217-7000 with black dial from 1964), along with several Swiss and German watches (Omega, Breitling, IWC, Nomos, etc). I've caught the collector's bug on these vintage Seiko World Time watches and am working on a Google Doc that will breakdown / detail each model / generation from 1964 through 1979. More on that in another thread. I can't figure out how to add a photo - here's a Google Photo link - of my Seikos: [Created an Imgur account so I can link images now!]

Welcome to the site dapellegrini! Looking forward to your compilation on the World Timer watches and hope we can all help move it along I'm only a touch jealous of those end links on the fine bracelets you have there on the 6117-6409

Thanks. I don't have any other JDM watches - though I plan on growing my SEIKO world time collection as opportunities present themselves. I do have a few other "not-swiss" watches though - here are a couple cool ones That's a Nomos Zurich World Time - 2018 (did I mention I like World Times?) and a Ming 27.01 II - 2021 (which does have a swiss movement I guess)

Thx If I wanted to add a fully sorted, serviced, all original example of a Pogue in very good to excellent condition - from a reliable source (so I don't have to spend 3 weeks studying every detail) - what would those be going for reasonably? Do they popup often? I think it would fit my small "space watches" collection... which may also get a Gagarin ...

This post is to celebrate 2 years and 12 days since I owned a reasonable number of Seikos (three in total)... and joined this forum in my quest to better understand what I was getting into. I just checked, and apparently I have 217 Seikos right now plus 47 Citizens ( many for sale by the way!). I also have a lot of "nice", modern watches. And no regrets few regrets! To think, when I started this thread, I had one watch box, with 10 slots - and a few empty ones! For the longest time I had my Speedy Pro as my daily and my Nomos World Timer as a dress watch. Then these three Seiko World Timers as vintage curiosities .... Then pandora's box was opened. I think I have more invested in tools today than I did in watches then. Thanks to the support and feedback here I now also have a very good understanding of how these things tick - have even torn down many, and (successfully) rebuilt one mechanical 4006. AND... I am still possibly looking for that Yellow Pogue (RESIST dial, notched case, T-dial) with near perfect dial and handset, to go with my space watch collection - but have grown to despise the 6139-600X more than enjoy it. THANK YOU to all of the people here who have helped me along the way . Good times and here's to another 2 years and 12 days, with hopefully fewer watches though.

Congratulations dapellegrini! You've come a long way and it's great to see all that you have curated and learned. More importantly thank you in how you give back with all the information generated and thoughtful reporting on models, differences, and variations and relating parts too. It's greatly appreciated by more than you will ever know!
