Aloha , I need to know some answers to my .... 7549-7010 Project here so I can eventually get it going. I am not to familiar to any of this .... Change Over or Conversion if need to be done. I was told that I could Convert a Seiko 7548 into a ...7549 Movement and I do have some Bit with my Case Project. Does anyone know about ...... Converting these 7548 Movements so they could be used. I was told that ....The Gearing had to be ... Switched / Hands / and so on. If so do I have to change .....The Sweep Hand gear also for it. I know it has to be a ... 5 - Jewel Movement so any thing else is appreciated to find out. Aloha Louis

Louis I ‘think’ you should be able to drop in a 7548 no problem but you would need to broach the hands to fit or get some compatible hands original tuna hands are not the same (from memory I think it’s the hour hand) again I think its because of the extra weight of the larger tuna hands

Louis,
Yes, you need to swap out the forth wheel for the sweep hand because it has a longer pinion to accommodate the taller cannon and hour wheel pinions.

Here’s some measurements I posted on the other forum a few years ago
OD of cannon pinion for 7548, 46, etc. is .90mm and hour wheel is 1.5mm.
OD of the cannon pinion for a 7549 is 1.40mm and hour wheel is 2.30mm.
4th wheel length difference between 7549 and other 754x
7549 - 6.14mm
The other 754x - 5.64mm

I am not that picky for this project but what I can find I'll use it for now. Here in the Middle Of This Ocean things are very hard to find like this hobby of ours so what I can find really helps too. You can message me for what you have Sir and we can go form there if that be fine with you. Louis Louis
