I find Tapatalk the best way to attach pictures. Sure, it can be a PITA sometimes when it fails to load, but it’s easier than dicking about with a hosting site IMO. I started using Imgur but find it a bit of a faff.
It’s disappointing to hear that donations are down, and presumably the Benefactor numbers as well. Ok, being a Benefactor doesn’t really bring that much in the way of benefits, but if we’re to keep this - the best forum on the web for me at least - going, then more members need to step up and donate. Next time you’re contemplating splashing out on another watch (that you almost certainly don’t need), consider making a donation to the forum instead. It’ll almost certainly be cheaper than the watch you’re considering buying and will help Tim keep this place going.

I use tapatalk pretty much exclusively. Pics sometimes can be stubborn but there's a couple of options to fall back on. Also guilty of spending less time here and posting less. I'll try to remedy that. Going thru a watch lull and need some motivation. Need to sell off some stuff and recalibrate.

How about a fundraising drive to generate some money to upgrade the platform? I'd happily donate a watch and I'd bet other could as well. Then you advertise raffle tickets and we get some cash flow in to help out!

I'd be happy to chip in as well. It is probably a lot of work though.
I did a little digging. Xenforo is the forums platform that seems like it would be a big step forward, used buy WUS etc. From what I can find, there is no simple conversions from Proboards to Xenforo, so someone would have to get creative and figure out how to export and import manually (likely doable but not simple) - or start the forum over from scratch. Having done this myself many years ago with different software - the most disruptive part was that we couldn't bring passwords over - so once the users were converted everyone had to do a password recovery to login.
I also checked for better image upload tools for Proboards - and didn't find anything.

Proboards is free because technically they "own" the content, I believe there is a way to migrate to another platform, I'm just not sure what the rules are today.

I don't get here nearly as often as I did. I too have been having more and more demands from other parts of my life. Daughters in her second year of college (5 more to go) and well we bought a house for her near campus to save on tuition, now I have two houses to maintain! Ah but it's only a two hour drive I had written up a great post about the 7009-821X's and the versions and differences and we were hacked at work with ransomware and it wasn't recovered along with the details on the No$9 collection. I still have the watches but need to get back to shooting pics and typing up observations... Anyway I scroll the newest post for things that I can contribute otherwise I'm not even logged in just scrolling... If there are donations needed for a fund raiser hit me up, I'm sure there a few from when I was collecting anything with Seiko on the dial (that I could afford)

I fear the lost watch photos are the least of your concerns. Good luck with the recovery efforts.

Thanks, the company paid the ransom and got a key code to unlick files but they needed to be done individually! Or at least on the user PC level (I don't understand it all) So anything "personal lost" was lost... Now I'll keep a "x" files on the server partition...

Reading up on Proboards - it looks like they really have you locked in. No path to migrate. If you leave, you start from scratch. Sheesh... You'd think they could at least keep competitive with the other forum platforms out there. It looks like they don't even offer a migration to their paid service tier... You have to start over. I guess you could start a new board on another platform and slowly point users from here to there, if you're feeling ambitious. Assuming it's always free here anyways - then it might not matter how "slow" a transition would be. Individual users would have to migrate their own threads across apparently.

Individuals can migrate their content, but I cannot migrate all myself. I am hoping that will change eventually, with some sort of buyout, we shall see.

I've posted pics here with tapatalk and agree it's easy to do, but it seems like they disappear after a few years. Not sure how to fix them.

It’s easy to use PayPal to do an automatic monthly payment of a small amount per month using the link on the home page.
