Around 3 years ago I started to dive into Vintage watches. I got now 2 handwound Omega Seamaster from the 1950ties and a handwound Universal Genève also from this era.
Up till now I am still uncertain what my watch collecting focus will be. Not sure about the brand(s), nor era, nor complications, nor type of the watches I will collect in the future.
However, recently I found out that the watch world and also the vintage watch world is not only the swiss-dominated part (Omega, Rolex, Longines and all the other swiss manufacturers). There are also a lot of nice vintage watches from brands like King Seiko, Grand Seiko, Seikomatic, Citizen etc.
Hence, I registered for this forum to acquire some more knowledge especially about Japanese watches.
My story was I came here to get some info about a watch I wanted to work on myself. That lead me down the path of trying to collect anything that had "Seiko" on the dial. After a short time I started to narrow my focus to particular watches. Be it size, dial color movement or era.
Hang around check the place out. Plenty on here are more than happy to answer questions and give direction/advice.

Welcome!
My first Seiko love was the vintage world timers - from 1964 - 1976. You can get a quick intro here: seikoworldtime.com/timeline
I’ve just recently started collecting the Bell-matic range - 1966-1978, lots of models, shapes and colors. These have a mechanical alarm complication kind of like a Vulcain Cricket or JLC Memovox.
And of course there are chronographs, which are probably the most popular, along with divers to get into. If you like older - I think the Alpinist models from the 1950s and 1960s are also really cool.
Welcome to the forum an6! We're all here to enjoy watches of many different origins and complication levels. You'll routinely see watches displayed or discussed that are not directly related to Japanese manufacture. I love mechanical variety, and look to collect different examples of interesting (to me) complications in timekeeping. I also will buy nostalgic watches or just fun to look at watches too.
Looking forward to seeing some of your watches here too!
