To my WS friends in the UK, my condolences to you for today’s news. Queen Elizabeth was loved by many in and out of the UK. Her death marks the end of an era because they just don’t make ‘em like that anymore.

Yes thanks. Crowned in my birth year. Marmalade sarnie to the end. This is a PA Media picture

Thanks saldog. I don't think it's really sunk in yet. She's been a constant throughout my life. Fortunate to have seen her a few times (from a distance) - always in very vivid clothing. She will be around for decades to come though - postage stamps, coins and banknotes, post boxes; they all bear her name or image. The National Anthem will also require a minor change. Not many living Brits will remember having a King, but from the moment she died we now have King Charles III. Unprecedented in that we've got a new Prime Minister and a new Head of State within two days. Turbulent times perhaps.

A very sad day indeed. Whether you’re a monarchist or not, you have to admire the fact that she devoted her life to the Crown for over 75 years, 70 of those as monarch, and always with dignity and humility. And humour as well - the London 2012 Olympics opening ceremony and, as Don alluded to, the marmalade sarnie sketch earlier this year for her Platinum Jubilee. For sure, we’ll never see another reign like hers.
The Queen is dead. Long live The King.

I started watching Queen's annual New Year's speech when I met my wife, as it was her family's tradition. Through them and in general I grew an admiration for Her.
Like others have said, there won't be another one like her in our life time.
May She rest in peace.

I'm reminded of HRM Queen Elizabeth ll every day and of course, particularly now. Truly the end of an era and what a remarkable leader. Dad was part of the military entourage that accompanied HRM during one of her early visits to Canada. That's mom shaking hands with the Queen by the way
