My son has a serious eye condition and I regularly accompany him to the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London. I'd walked past this picture many times in the waiting area but paid no attention to the detail. Then I looked more closely and my interest was immediately piqued. A creative way of recycling spare parts. Perhaps the artist is also a tinkerer. A tinkerer who never got to finish a project.

So cool! I love the picture and what it's made of. I've seen this done with other things and always admire the creativity (although many times this is political art so it becomes a bit slanted in it's mass appeal). Indeed well wishes to your son and his progress in resolving his eye conditions to the best of his abilities. It's so hard as a parent to watch your children struggle. It's also amazing and inspirational to see them overcome their obstacles which often seem insurmountable from our perspectives.
