For months now I have had piles of old watches that will need attention at some point, don't merit a spot in a watch box right now, and are generally driving me a little crazy. I also have a growing pile of batteries that I can't just throw in the normal trash, and I seem to hoard used crystals and parts - in case the old beat up ones will ever be useful in some way... So first, I found these two guys on Amazon, and really like them. Though I think the blue bin might end up being for junked bracelets and parts for current projects on my desk I needed something a little bigger for my project watches. I first lined it with black foam core board, then added some foam at the bottom and back to hold up a divider for Seiko vs Citizen Now I feel like I have more room to expand! Unless I start emptying my for sale trays into here... TBD How do you keep your desktop (and other surfaces) organized?

That is TOO GOOD! I am laughing my ass off right now dapellegrini!!!
What a hilarious way to store all that and help sooth the need to organize 'junk'. I struggle with a lot of watches I have torn down and are in pieces now. I can probably put them sort-of back together, but really don't want to. Storage of these is the most difficult for me.

Well even if they do all go to the same place in the end, I am very happy to have the extra level of organization. I think most of the mechanical "for sale" batch is going in next... This mini replica dumpster has been on my list for a while now, but I always thought it overpriced. Ends up it is, but it is very well executed, so no regrets. The mini trash cans are by comparison very cheap (price and quality) on amazon. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07R8W17YL?th=1www.amazon.com/Dumpsty-Raw-Steel-Desktop-Dumpster/dp/B015NWNQO6But I bought the Dumpsty direct - and suspect around black friday these will get a nice discount: dumpsty.com/standard/

That's how Amazon ropes you in and brainwashes you just like Walmart.
First you buy some markers for a contest and then the next thing you know . . . . .

I'm kindof partial to this one. mnem FWIW... a REAL 96 gallon genuine Toter curbside garbage bin like the municipalities use costs less than your desktop toy dumpster.

Batteries that can be recycled should be recycled. Take them to your local jewellers or watchmakers. They will get paid by the weight of recycled batteries they have.

I keep my projects sorted in small plastic storage boxes. As parts are gathered they are added to the individual boxes to keep everything for any particular project all in one place. Then the boxes are sorted by models and stored in cabinet drawers.

That is entirely too tidy. You must be some kind of sicko. I'll admit to similarly using cheap pencil boxes (often found on sale 3/$1) for most of my "handheld and smaller" projects... and plastic shoeboxes for larger stuff like receivers, TVs, etc. mnem "major disorder, please report to general disarray immediately..."
