Hello Everyone,
I've been wanting to join this website for a long time and finally found (made) the time in my busy life to do just that. Sorry to admit, but I'm not a watchmaker or collector as such, but just a very proud owner of a Seiko 7C46-7009 Golden Tuna that I bought new ($450) back in 1987, as soon as I finished getting my scuba certification. I really didn't know much about diver's watches and didn't really know what styles/models were out on the market back then, but all I knew was that I wanted it to be a Seiko because of the reputation that their watches had. So I was browsing the Seiko selection at a local jewelers in Daytona Beach, FL and ended up looking through their Seiko catalog. As soon as I saw that Seiko Quartz Golden Tuna 1,000m Professional Divers watch in the catalog,.............it was truly love at first sight!!! LOL. So I asked the jeweler if he could order the watch for me. Long story short, I waited a few weeks and the jeweler said that he was unable to get the watch because it was either not in stock or unavailable at that time. Fast forward to about a month or so later, when I ended up going to a watch store in Orlando, FL while I was shopping for scuba diving equipment. I was looking at the Seiko watches in the glass case and, lo and behold, there it was! The watch of my dreams, sitting right next to the slightly smaller 400m(?) model. I bought that Seiko 1,000m Golden Tuna on the spot! Paid cash too. And so I've been wearing this watch ever since. It's the only watch that I've ever owned that has held up reliably and never let me down, through all kinds of weather, working conditions, heat & cold, chemicals, hard knocks, etc. I love this watch!!! I used to take it in for battery and crystal replacements over the many years but stopped doing that after having a very bad experience with a hack at a local watch/jewelry shop about 15 years ago. Had to write a letter to Seiko in Japan to get Coserv (in CA) to directly sell me the replacement part that I needed. So now I really don't trust taking my watch to any local shops anymore.
Anyway, I'm in search for some spare parts to keep my Golden Tuna going and looking decent for as long as I'm alive to wear it with pride.
Best Regards,
