Greetings everyone. I'm a member of other watch forums but have only just discovered this one. It seems to be much more my cup of tea! Have been collecting watches since retiring about 15 years ago. Anything from cheap and cheerful to rather expensive (for me). Not surprisingly a lot of these are Japanese. I have been through a phase of Seiko modding which was enjoyable. I am slowly teaching myself the basics of watch repair and restoration though I havent yet got the confidence to start ripping movements apart other than simple stuff. Time and mood are huge factors! At the moment I am working on a couple of Seiko kinetics, an H558-5000 and an original Citizen Aqualand. The bench is crowded! Must resolve to finish these before opening another! Anyway greetings again and look forward to participating. Cheers.

Welcome!
What are you doing on the Kinetics? They are a real pain if you don't wear them six days a week, as getting the reserve up high enough is difficult. I have a couple of capacitors on hand to pop into mine, but having just ordered an electronic toothbrush recharging base from eBay, am waiting to see if that will do the trick before swapping in the new capacitors.
The Aqualand is a totally cool watch too - fortunately mine doesn't need any repair - what are you doing to yours?
Glad to have you here!

Hello and welcome to our little corner of the internet grungent! Glad to have another tinkering collector aboard
Don't hesitate to reach out and ask questions when the time comes to fully break down a movement. We're here to help!
I'm looking forward to seeing more of that H558 around here and hope you are able to make it ship-shape as you see fit!

Thanks all! The Aqualand came from Yahoo Japan and although it works it's in a bit of a state. I really don't know what the hell they do to them over there!
