Hello there,
First things first, I'll do my best to write in English, but I'm sorry it certainly won't be perfect.
Hmmm, is the FR in my name for French or for Fred ? Let's say both. I'm over 50 and I can't live without tinkering with something. It's a part of my life, I teach it as a science and technology teacher.
Watches have fascinated me for a long time, but I never dared to take the plunge into mechanical watches, for fear of not mastering the subject. About 10 years ago, a friend introduced me to the subject, pushing me to get started (he didn't need to push me very hard)
I owned some old russian hand winding models, even a 6133 chronograph, some swiss or old french models. My first automatic one was a Seiko. Since this first seiko, it became compulsive
I started buying more, needed some tools, had to find a reliable watchmaker, wanted to know always more about watchmaking... Now I have some watch boxes full of Seiko's. If I still don't service the movements myself, I spend a lot of time finding them, sourcing parts, restoring, repairing, tweaking...
Why did I register on Wrist Sushi ? Because i'm turning arround watch forums for years. The last few days, I was looking for some informations about 7548 movements, and ended here again. I decided it was time to register.
The ones that brought me here today :
My two first vintage SQ, They migrated together to France some weeks ago. The black one was working well on arrival, the Pepsi one looks a bit epileptic. It starts, then sometimes stops with second hand convulsions, needing a slap, or pull/insert crown to restart. It will need to be sent in intensive care.
I'll try to share soon some more pictures of all what sits in my watch boxes, nothing really impressive, but I really like them.
Fred
