For the month of December, I will be "Doubling Down" each day on the WRUW thread. Please feel free to join me. Here's the idea.... Most of us here have WAY too many watches, so for the Month of December, let's try and burn through more than just 31. Each day that you care to play along you should: - Post two watches, ideally side by side in a single photo... or for an (imaginary) "participation trophy" you can do two photos separately, but in the same post
- Normal WRUW etiquette applies - day and date should be set correctly, and the time should be the same on both watches - or very close (if you are going for the imaginary participation trophy with two photos for example)
- The two watches should be the same / similar in some way, and you can get as creative as you want
- Re-mix watches from previous doubles to make new sets without repeating a specific set, or a set theme
Examples: - 2x identical watches - 2x of the same watch with different dial colors - 2x with same dial color, or finish - 2x [country of origin] watches - 2x divers - 2x chronographs - 2x [insert your complication] - 2x from same month/year - 2x same brand (Seiko or Citizen would be a lazy one, but acceptable) - 2x watches that would have competed in their day - 2x w/ Radium for lume - 2x .... you get the idea? How many different "sets" can we come up with? I have no idea if I will be able to riddle out 31 different sets, but that's what I'll be trying for! No prizes or points, unless someone wants to keep track?

dapellegrini -Excellent, participation with a challenge is always fun around here
To be clear, what is the 'spirit' of this Gemini watch December? Is it just to show these two watches? Is it to wear each of them for some period of time each in the same day, back-to-back? Or are we to wear both watches at the same time (one for each wrist or two on one wrist)?

The idea is to at least "show off" two watches each day, of which you will be wearing at least one. Extra cred if you either wear both, on one wrist or both wrists, or like me - one during the day and another in the evening (typically).

O/T but related - - how do you guys upload pictures here? I only ever post links to pictures I have posted elsewhere already. This website rejects any attempt to directly upload any photo, with the antiquated claim that the size must be max. 1MB, and I believe even that doesn't work. Please enlighten me.

SeikoSoMatic - this forum won't host any photos, period. You must host them elsewhere. Most use imagr or similar. I have a very convoluted method which only applies to me as I host my own photos so I'm not much help here.

Yes, it is very old school. I think it is a limitation of Proboards, and I suspect changing to Xenforo or the like (which has great picture handling) would mean starting a new forum basically. I've gotten quite good and grabbing my photos off my Google Photos account, pasting them into imgur.com, then linking them here. Can only do that on a PC/Mac though. I've also had luck using Tapatalk on the phone - where they host your uploaded photos and let you put them in a post without any drama or additional steps.

I traded all my good watches for hookers and crack.
I've had to resort to buying Timex's and Ali Express watches.
And before you know it I will be unemployed and living in the woods off the grid.

I bet you have more than 9x $2 watches. Hall pass revoked!

Found out how to host my pix from Google Drive. Thanks, guys.

The date-setting requirement might be a deal-breaker for me.

Ooft I like this thinking! I was about to post that although I have the numbers, I'm currently away from home and was thinking of 62 watches so no duplicates. 9 watches makes for an interesting proposition, but I think would need careful thought?

How about 10 watches to make pairs. All Seiko, 5 pairs of matching movements, with each pair having different dial colours. Then there's the whole no date, date, day/date thing...... Too many variables!ðąðĪŠð

Hmm, 62 watches. I reckon I can just about do that. Can I keep up the pace though?

Won't be doing the 9's, will follow your list of examples to start as far as I can. Be good if we could get a full list of 31? Thought I could pull off all doubles for a moment, with the same or different dials, variations... that would be admitting I might have issues...
