Auditioning for a replacement module. Owners of Seiko 0614 pieces will understand the frustration of having a perfectly functional 0614 module, and (very likely) non-functioning lcd panel. The screens were definitely not designed for a 50 year life. And I'm sure that those with a fully operational piece are extremely cautious about wearing their watches - correct me if I'm wrong about this! Given the great case design, it would be nice to re-use it as a mod. The generous space provided to house the original module provides an opportunity. An earlier attempt with a Seiko 0514 case went nowhere as the unit I had considered was the wrong size and shape. Some early scaling suggests that I may be able to get this to work with a module from the venerable Casio F-91W. Obviously it won't look the same, but that's how it is. Christmas-New Year project.

I had a look at this again the other day. I printed a few masks from PLA and tested them for fit. It fits quite well in the case over the module. I haven't painted the mask yet, but I think that the mock-up using the metallic brushed effect - with decals - is the better option to go for.

Neat project rossr! I agree the brushed metal look is the way to go, however I feel like it's a bit too much grey and silver with the LCD being so similar in color.
Two thoughts come to mind: Either a yellow lens over the LCD to give it the vintage look or maybe a tint to the mask, perhaps like a light bronze or gunmetal shading to break it up a little?

I should point out that no harm will be done to the case or original module. It's just a bit of fun to get some use out of a nice old case and bracelet.
