The Swiss Dimetron from France arrived last night and what a beauty it is in hand!
I don't really know what 'Tropical Dial' means. Seems it means anything from brownish tones for dial colors to actual rotted dials from water ingress. This watch is in excellent condition with no signs of contamination inside the case front or back. The dial is a mottled brown color so deep you only notice the figuring in light. Otherwise it's just 'not black' at any other angle. I call it espresso and modeled it over a fresh portafilter of Tanzania Peaberry beans to demo.
The lume is impeccable and holds a charge appropriate of a late 1960's application (as in for 10 seconds or so) but is very crisp. The bezel is free to rotate without clicks or much friction when the bottom crown is loosened. To fix it's position you snug the bottom crown up against the case and the bezel is in no danger of being accidentally adjusted thereafter.
It's a hand winding Ebauches Bettlach SA EB8800 with 17 jewels with no date quickset so one must do e the 8pm to midnight hokey-pokey to get the date set. Some internet research suggests a lift angle of 42° at which this watch is delivering a 6 position average amplitude of 191° after correcting it's original 3.0ms beat error down to and average of 0.3ms across six positions. There is a major shift in performance from dial up/down to case upright so I suspect a service will include some detective work in this area.
This is a pin lever movement running at 18,000bph which is pleasing to listen to as it's decisively mechanical. Very interesting arrangement of the barrel system, I'm looking forward into taking it down to see how this works! Is it a battery? Sure looks like one did you catch this leffemonster ? No diashock springs to deal with and all the cap jewels are pressed into a common plate!
Today is working out much better than the last, and we're one step closer to the weekend too. Have a good one!

Last couple weeks it's been the FitBit cuz I need the activity data for my PT regimen. Today I decided to put the ADDIESDIVE on as well for the morning just so I could feel a little bit "normal" again. mnem "Man with watch always know what time it is. You know mnementh, you could put the Fitbit on your other arm and keep the good stuff on your dominant wrist! A long sleeve shirt cuffed over the fitbit makes it look normal to anyone else. I've noticed no difference in fitness tracking if I move the deivde to my other arm.
Hmm, I wonder would it work on our ankle like a house arrest device?

leffemonster, I have been attracted to that re-issue but with budget being tight and me trying to be disciplined, I had to opt for the Citizen NB6021-17E. I guess one can't always have them all.

Not a show piece right now, but what I happen to be wearing. Needs a good cleaning and new crystal - runs a little fast, roughly one minute a week or so.

Almost feels normal; thankfully the FitBit weighs aboot half what the ADDIES does. It's okay for mealtime or doing work online; but when I'm working hard or working out, I hate anything more than my chain on my left wrist. mnem *toddles off to the workbench*
