As a domestic electrician, constantly chasing out walls, pulling cables under peoples floorboards, using vibrating tools, my daily has to be tough! I wore a G shock gulfman for 5 years but the hard rubber strap always irritated my wrists after a long day, so for the last 3 years I’ve used my trusty pro master tough titanium, ticks all the boxes, WR, sapphire, solar powered, titanium (light and strong). This thing gets a hell of a beating and doesn’t show any signs of damage! Im Curious to know what other people in the trades use as their daily! So let’s see em!

When ever I'm doing something more rugged, I go for this modded (simply a dial swap) MTD-1053 (same as MDV-101, without the Marlin logo):

I find if I'm doing rough work it's got to be a nato as I find them more comfortable with either getting wet or sweat. My number one work watch is a CWC GS Sapphire. It's not too tall so can be worn under lots of layers when outside in winter, and it's less susceptible to catching/banging on door frames etc. I like to wear all of my watches, and although I try not to be too precious many of them I simply wouldn't wear to work. Actually, just remembered I have a trusty Timex. I bought it about 12 years ago, and that would be my proper beater. The acid test is that I wouldn't wear the CWC when painting with a roller. The Timex has roller spray on it😆

I have a w10 cushion case somewhere I must dig out. Agreed NATO is the only option for me at work now. Reliable and comfy, and can change the look within seconds, I actually opt for nato on most of my watches now I have bought many watches to wear to work thinking they will be a good beater and then decided I like them too much to get covered in Sh*t too! 😀 Edit: just googled the GS, the last time I looked at G10’s(a few years back) I don’t think these were around! Don’t recall any with 200m sapphire (but I was looking at oldies) which is why I went to the citizen. Thats an Impressive bit of kit and a timeless classic design

Thats an Impressive bit of kit and a timeless classic design I missed the boat on the £30-50 G10s. I managed a few at about £110, and a 1980 fatboy that cost a bit more than that. Still have them, but they're all classed as vintage now and I don't trust the WR on them. For ages the GS Sapphire didn't go up in price like the others did but I think it did go up last year. I chose it as 10yr battery and 200m WR is perfect for work whilst keeping fairly closely to the original design. I know the feeling on buying a beater and then realising you like it too much to wreck😆

Before I thought I would own more than a couple watches .... This was my only daily. As a desk diver, it was fine. It also survived many house projects, but not without its scars

I'm in construction, so I have a fair amount of beaters. I'm actually amazed at the amount of abuse they take without any major scars or dinks. Here are the ones I wear most often Rob

I used to wear a G-Shock DW-9052 for the super-beater stuff, but its battery died and I replaced it with a DW-H5600. I will say that the newer rubber is WAY softer than the older rubber on the 9052.
For stuff where the watch is less likely to sustain physical blows or get used motor oil on it or whatever, I just wear my SBGE001. It was designed to be tough, and it is tough. I trust it, and I use it how it was intended.
Typically when I travel, it's the only watch I take, and I usually wear it when I'm doing yard work and stuff. But I wear the G-shock when I'm working on my car, doing home repairs in tight spaces, etc. I also wear it while exercising since it has the fitness tracking stuff. If I'm going to be in salt water for extended periods and won't be able to rinse the watch shortly thereafter (i.e. sailing trips or spending an entire day at the beach or whatever) then the G-shock also gets the nod.

All great daily’s! I must admit if I know I’ve got a slightly gentler day (testing or something) I like to throw on something else for variety! Im at work 6/7 days a week at the moment and not much of a social life since having kids😆 so if I don’t, the others don’t get much of a look in (of course I get them all out and play around with them while watching telle)

I'm a flight instructor and fly light planes. The cockpits in these are usually tight and restrictive, so anything worn on my wrist will get bumped and scraped against the yoke, harness buckles and the like. I also like the usefulness of a diving bezel to time my sorties so I mostly wear divers. These are a few of my dailies- Bombfrog Professional 500; this gets worn the most (don't ask how legible that insert is)
Seiko 6309-7290; had this rebuilt last year but hasn't clocked that many hours in the air
Technos Skydiver Chronoalarm T205; I customised this while restoring to make it more legible in all lighting conditions.
Citizen Navihawk C300; I have both versions and my Blue Angels version is more scruffy so it gets worn more often when I'm on duty!
Honourable mention; Casio AMW330. I wore this for two years but ended up trading with a friend. The bidirectional bezel was very useful!

The Casio GX-56GB is my beater tool watch. I'm not afraid to wear it regardless of the activity. I wear a lot of hats at work so I never know what's coming but for the most part I'm in a lab doing electronics repair, calibration, or troubleshooting client data via simulations. I think the most dangerous things to watches around here besides the occasional door jamb are chemicals and soldering irons

It was still showing the time but died after pressing the “light” button
