Wow leffemonster it looks even better in natural light than it did on the bench! Today I've got my Citizen Crystal 7 33j while preparing for another calibration event.
The Citizen CQT-101 tuned up perfectly, and I learned a new trick on my bench in the middle of it. I figured out how to substitute in my GPS disciplined oven controlled crystal oscillator bench standard into my Leader LDC-823S digital counter. Doing so allows me to lock in a solid reference for calibrating against. This is important as very small drift in time base adds up to a measurable error over time. As an example, the Citizen CQT-101 runs a 4.320 MHz oscillator. At operational temperature (15min from cold please) I found it drifting high by 1.3Hz before I worked on it: 4,320,000.0 Hz - standard
4,320,001.3 Hz - actual In the scheme of things that's only a 0.00003% error by which one might think is meaningless noise. However when you are measuring things to our level of precision time keeping that becomes an offset -0.026 seconds/day. If you tuned your watch perfectly to it then it would end up loosing 0.8 seconds per month to this error through no fault of it's own timekeeping abilities.
Again, some might think 'who cares' ? I can say besides myself (and probably mnementh ) anyone with a High Accuracy Quartz (HAQ) watch with better than 10 sec/year deviation would care! This is because your calibration equipment will steer you wrong by more than the accuracy of your watch ( 0.8 * 12 = 9.67s sec/year ) I'm looking forward to seeing what the QT-2100 will be capable of with this new trick I have up my sleeve

After committing the sacrilege of wearing a previously unworn LE watch, today I'm piling another one on by wearing a 5KX on a Z-22 🤣

i switched over to this one, it's recent and is still new to me. i see my vacuuming of a cat-infested chaise has done some collateral damage. but i love what happens at the edge of the sapphire. Namoki Dual Crown.
