You know when you open something you are so keen to arrive and are met with sheer disappointment? After wanting one for ages, pulled the trigger on a supposedly pretty mint one. The pics looked great (all outdoors with nice sunny backdrops) and the description went as follows “Here’s an extremely nice looking First Generation Monster its in super all round condition . Excellent case lines with no obvious scratches or bumps , its very nice . Very nice bright Orange dial with great lume Bezel turning action is excellent with a smooth and positive movement” Pics from the listing… Well…. He wasn’t wrong, bezel action sure was smooth, no clicks at all smooth….and bidirectional due to the fact there was no click springs fitted haha The hands up close were so badly hand painted, the lume was terrible even after a supercharge with a black light this was the best it got. It faded after about ten seconds to nothing… even the dial too, bearing in mind the monster is known for its killer lume, had bits missing from it, maybe water damage but more likely AM dial too, I’ve seen em available! Here’s how my black monster looked The case was badly hand finished in all sorts of directions with what looks to be 240 grit… So sadly she’s been sent back. Luckily the seller was a top bloke and agreed without question. I wouldn’t say he was necessarily lying, maybe just hiding the truth and hoping it would be ok…but unfortunately he sold to the wrong guy! Just a bit miffed as I was led to believe it was a real keeper! Anyway I’m on the lookout again! Hopefully find a goodun, they’re not so old yet that they’ve started deteriorating their dials and hands… so I’m Sure I will

At least the seller was good enough to take it back no questions asked. That could have turned out a lot worse.
I just acquired a Scubapro 500 and when I removed the caseback I noticed the automatic winding works was missing but this was from an estate auction so no returns.

The good thing about thebay though is they do often have your back if things aren’t exactly what was on offer. I’ve bought vintage seikos with patina and needing work, as I enjoy a project, but this one I’m looking for a goodun, which is what i was led to believe this was

Sorry about this. Glad you had it returned.
SKX781 is a classic. Should be able to get one on the sales forums in good condition for a good price since they appear fairly often.
The Monster bracelet is one of the most comfortable metal bracelets I've worn.
