Hi everyone! Its a great pleasure to be able to join this forum on Japanese watches, especially on Seiko watches that I so love. I began my collection proper in 2020, just before Covid-19 hit us hard, and I remember purchasing this wonderful example of the Seiko “Golden Tuna” 7C46-7009 from 1993. That piece really sent me down a rabbit hole, and ever since I have been focusing on either deep-divers, or timepieces with significant technological advances, though not so much digital or smart watches.
As one whom doesn’t quibble about a quartz or mechanical heart, Japanese watch brands are pretty much perfect for me as they cater well to both ends of the spectrum. There’s a time and place for both type of movements, and in the end it all just comes down to personal choices and biases.
I’m really looking forward to engaging and learning from everyone on the forum, and of course discovering new and wonderful pieces too. Cheers!

Well said wx and welcome to our forum! I am just as enamored of mechanical and electronic/quartz watches from 1960s through 1980s of Japan origin. I enjoy working on and repairing spring or battery powered movements and like you have great interest in technological leaps found in these era of watches. Enjoy your time here and be sure to post some photos of your collection in our daily WRUW threads!

Glad to have you here. You started with a good one - the Golden Tuna is a terrific watch - congrats on that one. Looking forward to seeing it and your others.

Thank you! Tbh the Golden Tuna wasn’t my first choice then, rather I was after the Darth Tuna. But fate works in strange ways, and I was offered the Golden Tuna at a pricepoint that I could not refuse. Have no regrets since then, and it will always have a special place in my collection. Here’s a photo of the Golden Tuna that I took a couple of days ago, next to a 6159 Grandfather Tuna that I only just acquired too! That piece needs a bit of work done, and I’ve just sent it off for servicing and for some repair work. Worryingly the crown of the 6159 doesn’t screw down, and I’m praying its the crown threads (and not the case threads) that are stripped.
