I have had a pocket knife since grade school. Can't remember the last time I left the house without one, except flying. Like victor said I feel a bit under dressed without one and will buy when I get to my destination, when I'm just doing carry-on which is 90% of my travel. I leave one in the desk drawer of a coworker in another plant in PA so I don't have to keep buying when I travel there. I flew to Austin to pick up a car I bought, went to a little shop and grabbed one, then the car wasn't ready and I had them send it on with the car since they ended up shipping it for me...If I remove the total of 7009's in my collection I might have more pocket knives than watches. My FIL mentioned once that he thought he'd carry a pocket knife for a while, when he was younger, and after a few months realized he never used it...I said I bet I use mine at least once a day...and still do... This Spyderco my daughter bought me after the blue handled version I bought her I really liked. I removed the clip from it just never seem to use them anymore. Ended up retiring a SOG Twitch?? assisted opener that must have in my pocket for a decade...I gave her boyfriend a Twitch II when he said he didn't have a pocket knife. I don't know if he took it with to Australia when he went down to work for the next few months to a year. I'm thinking he didn't not knowing the laws and such, plus he wasn't in the habit... The Flash light (Torch for those on the other side of the pond) is from a now defuncted 4-sevens...2-AA batteries that I load with rechargeables. I love the twist to operate and have two more of these one NIB as a back up...In my plant the dust kills any clicky I have or the other guys have every used...I took off the belt/pocket clip and wrapped it rubber and electrical tape so I can use it hands free. I think some one needs to have a silicone accessory for that purpose. A 1.0m blue black Zebra Sarasa Gel Roller Ball A 0.9mm Pental Twist Erase, sometimes swapped out for a Pental 209... Milton Pocket Blow gun (Don't tell osha, but never use a chip guard or regulate to 30psi or less, typical 90psi and up to 160 psi, thought I never seem to need to use it wide open...) Wallet is "ballistic nylon"? from TUMI that was another gift, I think for fathers day 15+ years ago just this last year has it started to show it's age... Nice mate! My brother got me a spyderco tenacious about 10 years ago, which started my collection of pocket knives and in turn, got me looking at edc stuff.

Once all the stupidity started a few years back this has been mine. Nice! Obviously being in the UK we are limited to “plinkers” but my .177 pcp Remington sure is fun at rodent control and taking down those pesky tin soldiers at 100feet And my .177 pellet revolver and gas metal BB 1911 are good at popping bean cans about 10 feet haha

Dragonfly Wharncliffe is always in the bottom of one of my pockets although I'll usually carry a second. It's a super useful blade shape

cd_god I had it in my head that you carried two half dollars with the date you paid off your debts stamped in them but don't see that in the picture?

29 more days and it will come out for it's annual showing.
No clad coinage, only silver and gold in my pocket.

That thing was huge. Funny I still have not grabbed anything from them. There seem to be a shift from mid to high end to more "affordable" some where in the 2000's maybe even before...So many different models and countries of origin...Like CD mentions not posting my stuff online...My "prize" straight blades are an Ek Commando with a nylon (paracord) wrapped handle I grabbed new at a flea market while in high school. Didn't realize until years later it's value and had been sharpening it! well it's mine and I used it...The other is a nicely (IMO) optioned Randall Model 1. While those are not edc I do have a Baby Browning that has been with me for years...Started with that originally because of the amount of dogs in the neighborhood when my kids were young. Mind you I'm not afraid of dogs. Sure I've been bitten a bunch of time. Sometimes my fault (rarely) But watching a group of about three or four kids the oldest was no more than 12 walking the family Pit...They were doing all they could to keep the dog from walking them. I know pits are less likely to attack and bite than a lot of other dogs. But it is when they do the are much more lethal. I think they account for half of all deaths annually by dog attacks. Other dogs bite and retreat (for the mot part) but not pits.

Getting well off topic now, but dog bites are not fun. I instructed my kids from a young age never to get involved in a dog fight - if they were to see dogs fighting other dogs, go get an adult. If there is a dog fight, best practice is to throw water or use a garden hose if those are handy. You getting physically involved is generally a mistake as dogs are fast and they lunge at whatever the perceived threat is, without stopping to figure out whether that threat is friend, foe or family. Of course, being stupid (or a good parent?) I demonstrated the folly of getting in the middle of dogs fighting in front of my daughters.
Dog bites HURT. I've got some faint scars on my hand and have been bitten a few times. The thing about dogs is that more often then not they don't mean to bite a human, but when they feel threatened and something triggers them they may lunge and bite - and then pull back.
And yeah, Pits are one of the breeds with "locking jaws" where they clamp down and just don't let go. Generally they are the sweetest of dogs, but if they get going, look out. And here in the States nearly every pound dog has at least some Pit in it. But well raised, they can make the best and most loyal family dog you can imagine. I once had a Chessie/Pit mix and I've never had a more loyal and devoted dog; ten years on and it still hurts to think about when I lost her.
The best protection dog I ever had was a Rhodesian Ridgeback. Gentlest dog I ever had too. As far as protecting property, forget it. Someone could walk into my house and strip it and a Rhodee wont' care. But if it thinks family is threatened (and they're awesome at threat detection) there's no better protector. I've had a pack of curs come running at my daughters and me as we were walking in the country, and my Ridgeback held them off and ran them off with zero instruction from me, nor any drama. Just his presence, how he saw them and moved between us and them, they immediately stopped being aggressive and then moved along. He was a fine dog.
OK, sorry about the long and digressive post. Get me talking about dogs though...

I should say my dog wounds were either caused from me trying to break them up while fighting or when my brother and I would scrap. I'm the one that has the scars on the backs of my legs to prove it... Wife wants another. We put down our last Carmine, a year ago January after 15 years. As we walked from the vet that day I said never again. We've been sitters for family dogs ever since, and all are welcome to all the family events we throw.
