Was watching telle and thought I’d give my daily beater a little lume charge with my flashlight, held it pretty close for about 10 seconds, don’t know what I was thinking!! My flashlight does get quite warm but never thought it would melt the dial that fast! Pretty gutted… luckily it is my work beater… time will tell whether it’s wrecked the solar inside!

Could always reach out to citizen? They may still produce this dial.

Wow, I never considered a flashlight to be a risk.

Hmmmm... That is an ultimate fail for Citizen. Powered by light.... but not a "flash" light?

Searching Google last night, found a seiko monster story with with a melted chapter ring, but that was under a halogen light for quite some time, was pretty shocked to see how fast this happened!
hopefully my cock up will help others from doing it though…
Good idea, I’ll message citizen, this model has been updated but they may have some knocking about somewhere!

How unfortunate!
Thank you for sharing, so others can be aware!
Did your flashlight have a magnifying lens? Was it LED?
Could it be, that the shape of the crystal focused the beam?
Manual mentions not to keep the watch too close to a light source when charging and advises to keep the watch away from heat.
Not posting this to turn knife in the wound etc., but I wouldn't necessarily bash Citizen either.

Not at all, I appreciate the feedback, and I wouldn’t bash them either, I’m a massive citizen fan, I mostly see this as a fail by myself to be honest, being a bit careless, not using a black light. I was just suprised that it happened so fast, when the flashlight wasn’t that warm. I held it pretty close, just trapped direct heat I suppose with nowhere to go. I’ve emailed them and asked them if they can supply a dial, which I’m happy to pay for if it’s cost effective. If not I may live with it, it’s unique I suppose haha

Ps yeah, 1 watt warm white led (olight s1 mini) That's some serious light! I think there must have been somekind of magnifying going on! I have also used LED lamp (with a magnifier) to charge lume. Now I know to avoid it. Once again, thanks for sharing!

I had a pocket torch that could char and sometimes even ignite paper if it was thin enough (like perhaps watchmaker's paper). The LED torches of today powered by big Li Ion batteries are no joke!

Bn0118-04e I have emailed citizen and had a response, they said to send it back to the service centre for a free assessment, estimate and free returns if I do or don’t go for it. Let’s see what they say, i saw on their website they still stock these in blue and green so it may come back with different colour dial 😂

Absolutely, this thing is 600 lumens and the throw is insane. I should have thought about that really in hi insight. Here’s an old pic of the troubled couple together from one Titanium Tuesday
