Okay, guys, I hinted in an earlier post that I’d be letting this one go, and it’s time. I wore it a few times, and the proportions just don’t bring me joy—at least, not enough joy to justify keeping this one from someone who would love it more. Blame my slender, ladylike wrists…
The Seiko SBEX007, aka SLA025 because Seiko hates us and can’t make anything simple, is the limited-edition reissue of the 1968 monocoque 6159-7000 diver. 1500 were made; this is number 937. It’s impeccably made and running strong. If you know, you know, so I’m going to run through this example’s minor issues rather than spend time touting everything that’s awesome about it, which has been pretty exhaustively covered elsewhere. Suffice it to say that all the praise is accurate; this is a really lovely, incredibly well-constructed watch.
1. The crown is fussy. I don’t know if this is unique to my example, but it just doesn’t like to engage nicely with the threads. It tends to just screw in one turn on the first try, then requires a few seconds of fiddling before it goes in smooth and tight. Not bad enough to warrant a crown replacement for me, but a little annoying.
2. There are some light scratches to the back. I took a couple of photos that emphasize these and make them look very dramatic, but at most angles they’re quite minor.
3. There is an even more minor scratch on the bezel—again, I’m including a close-up photo that makes it quite obvious, but it’s barely visible under normal circumstances.
4. Finally, I don’t have the box and papers. The watch is, however, on its correct strap.
I’m selling this a little shy of what I believe to be fair market value given the minor faults. If you think I’m way off, let me know--I’m always happy to try and come to a deal. Price is$3300 $3150 via PayPal F&F and includes fully insured USPS Priority shipping within the US. Happy to ship internationally for $3250 $3100 + shipping cost. Not really looking to trade, but let me know if you've got something really special.
