Am about to make my first purchase of a vintage Seiko 6309-7040!

Welcome Lance! Perfect choice to start you on a Seiko kick! If I had to pick one watch to wear for the rest of my life...6309 704x would be it.
(0k, maybe a 6306..you'll find out about that later...)

Welcome Lance! Glad you found this board!
Rob is right! The 6309 is a great watch but there are things to look out for before you put your cash on the table. Aftermarket parts and less than reputable watch makers can mean overpaying or having a watch that isn't reliable. Take a look around here for tips on what to look for and what to avoid. If you get a good one, it will last for ever and you'll absolutely love it. Iconic Seiko diver at it's finest.
