Not a bad idea, perhaps we can do something like that. Not sure I have anything special enough, to travel around the world.
Chris told me he has a Heuer he wants to donate to the project
I must of been drunk when I told you that.

I have my SSSSS Super Secret Stainless Steel Soxa that was made with the limited to I have not seen another one posted ever (5 people were there to get dials and Roger has unfortunately since passed on) green Soxa dial that Noah Fuller gave us at the WI WIS meetup that I would be willing to donate to the project as long as I get it back (postal issues aside) so I can claim 100K miles on it.
The downside is it currently runs and stops so if one of the resident watchmakers wants to give the movement a quick dip in the name of progress I will be happy to pass it forward.

Is it possible to: a) Put the "Next/Prev page" bit at the bottom of the thread as well as at the top ? b) Put a "latest post" thingy so that I don't have to start at the beginning every time. Moi ? Impatient ?

Impatient ? a) The bar with the Next & Prev buttons, actually follows you as you scroll down. B) If you click the black "New" button for each topic, it will automatically bring you to the newest post.

Actually, I'd like to get a 6117 (or similar) World Time for this purpose. It makes sense to have a World Timer, for world travel. It could end up being the official WS mascot.

D'oh ! b) It appears that this works on my PC (which I don't use very often, but not on my netbook. Both windows 7 on Firefox. I can live with it.

Any update on a pass it around watch? I've been trying to find a decent deal on a nice World Time, but no luck as of yet.

I'd still like to do it here though. To give it a better chance of success, only folks with a minimum number of posts on the forum should be allowed to host the watch. Nearly every time one of these watches has gone AWOL is when it was sent to someone with low post counts on the forum where the watch originated. The two that I was involved with and that returned to their originating points were from TheNeilo and Orient King. All of the hosts were well known posters so there was no real danger of the watches disappearing. I would also keep the list short so that people aren't waiting for a year or more to host the watch. I would recommend an even dozen just so everyone gets a time with the watch before forgetting it was even coming. Also, the watch needs to be one that the original owner won't mind losing if it does 'get lost in the mail'.

I must of been drunk when I told you that. Like that never happens! What can I say? I like my whiskey. One thing I've learned is to stay off of eBay while drunk.

Ok, so here's an idea that will probably be a bit controversial. How about an eBay & marketplace sub-forum where we 'out' any bargains spotted whilst browsing the web and local stores? I'm on a retro bicycle site which has this and I believe the owner of the site makes a few quid from ebay from click thru purchasing, plus the members of the site get a heads up of some rare parts that may be poorly listed and that they otherwise would have missed. Members with live auctions are also encouraged to post links there. Obviously it will upset some people from time to time as you may have spotted a watch going cheap and then it gets outed and more bidders suddenly arrive, but on the flip side it also ensures that good pieces go for what they are worth, as do the poor ones and the whole Seiko marketplace is a bit more transparent for the members here. The bike site I'm referring to is here and it provides some good discussion about pricing, sometimes a warning for things not being all that they are advertised as and which sellers to avoid. As things stand linking to a live auction here is frowned upon and I'm struggling to understand why, given that I can sign up here and post a FS ad as my first post. Opinions...?

As someone who spends a lot of time sorting through eb*y dreck hunting for bargains, I'm against it since it might increase competition for those items.

How about a change in the Trade Forum rules.
Currently 16) No more than five threads may be active at any given time. This count includes all transaction types as well as items inside listings where multiples are offered.
Since the trade forum isn't scrolling pages every 24 hours causing newer posts to go off of the first page maybe change the rule to say something like "Only 5 NEW posts per each trade forum (Seiko and Non Seiko)" and to prevent too many BUMP posts maybe only 1 bump for last weeks 5 posts allowed per week?

We can certainly look into modifying that rule.
