This picture can certainly double as my WRUW submission, but my goal here is to be the first (in my mind) to proclaim this watch the next "Classic Seiko" in 20 years (hopefully less). I got this baby thinking I would do a Fifty-five Fathoms mod on the dial, and I still probably will. I got two silver dials from Yobokies on the way, but doggone it, this is a beautiful watch!! I may buy another so I can mod it, and keep this one as is. It is powered by the 7s36C 23 jewel movement with see-through case back. The dial, hands, and bezel have that timeless elegance and the case shape so gracefully supports the dial, hands, and bezel. The lugs appear to measure at 22 mm, and I am going to look for a nice stitched leather band, I do like the metal bracelet, but the triple-lock clasp just sort of takes too much effort (am I lazy or what??) to secure. The crystal seems to be a bit of a "bubble" crystal, and provides ample magnification of the day, date, and time. All in all, an excellent pickup for only $149 (free shipping). I have a gold version on the way from Singapore or somewhere "over there in the vicinity" and I may have to spring for another of these too. So here is your daily advice: get at least one of these NOW. You'll thank me in a few years when they are fetching $300 on the bay.

I've been kicking around the idea of buying one of those, for quite a while now. Like you, the purchase was going to be for the purpose of doing a FFF mod. I know one of the big complaints about this model, is the fact that it does not have a screw down crown. I'm not so sure it will reach "Classic" status, but it is a nice watch.

Hi Tim - Go ahead, sit on your hands - I'll be glad to sell you one later. I'll even give you the brother-in-law Moderator price: $299!! I think the 62mas has the loose crown too, as does the 6105-8000, but I could be wrong about the 62mas because I don't yet own one. D.

I appreciate the price break, I'll definitely keep that in mind. Lack of a screw down crown, is not a deal breaker for me, I just have a hard time embracing the modern designs. I may still add one of these to my collection, but I guess time will tell.

Overall, I like the design. I've been toying with the idea of picking one up for some time now. Things that stop me: the curved top surface of the hands, and the clear-topped insert. I should look at one in person.

Nice looking watch. I'm not a big fan of the Seiko5sport logo. Do you have a link to this watch so I can check out the specs?

I think it's great for a black bay mod, I've been thinking about it for about a year now.

Sorry, but that watch doesn't do anything for me. Besides, I doubt if I am around in another 20 years!
