Don't know much about the watch but my Dad was a US Marine. Parris Island (AKA Camp LeJune) is the Marine Corps' east coast basic training camp. I believe it's in North Carolina. My Dad told me some stories about his time there and you just wouldn't believe them.

Looks to me like a Souvenir watch that recruits could buy at the PX When I was in U.S.M.C. Boot Camp back in 1965 at MCRD you could buy all sorts of items and send them home! There was a pretty fair selection of watches that I can recall that had the EGA emblem on the dial! I dont recall seeing that particular one but I wasnt really paying all that attention as I wasnt into watches at the time! A good place to look would be to post over at the MWR Forum....... someone there would probably know in a heartbeat!?
