It seems that some people are fanatical about them....especially the Vostok divers.
They seem extremely affordable....are they worth a damn?
Does anyone have here one?

Does anyone have here one? Some people will be fanatical about their favorite watch(es). I haven't owned one, but if I were to get one, I'd look deeper into their Vostok Europe line.

I have a handful of them and truth be told I've been impressed. All things considered the watches were made in a communist regime that didn't care much for beauty or one-up-man-ship but the ones I've owned have all treated me right. They can be seen HERE

I only have vintage Russian and Soviet watches but they are all built like tractors; tough, reliable and able time keepers.
Most of the modern ones have the same movements in them so they are likely also good reliable watches.
Watch out for fakes though; apparently the counterfeiters like Russian watches because of their simplicity.

I have a couple. One is a Vostok-Europe N-1 Rocket, which is sort of a Russian watch. It has a Russian movement, but is made in Lithuania. The other is an Amphibia (I think that's how the name translates) that was commissioned as a forum watch for the BDWF. The V-E is the second one of these I've had. I moved the first one on because I wasn't wearing it. I bought the second because I missed it. I don't wear this one often either. So, today I'll wear the N-1.

I've had quite a few, always enjoyed them. Great bang for the buck. Currently down to these two: Still looking for the right Seiko AM bezel insert for my green Amphibia (both have Dave Murphy bezels, the Amphibia has a one of a kind one Dave sent me as a gift). Currently I have a Cardi Vostok apart on my desk - not mine but my friend Oleg's, cleaning it up and replacing the crystal. Try one, they're relatively easy to find (and flip if you don't like it).

Some Soviet era watches... These are reputed to be from the time of Yuri Gagarin who was the first man in space. It is also reported that he was presented with the balck dial model. Likely it was after the flight but who knows. This one is from the old communist DKR... The 'ANCRE' label obviously appealed to me...even if the movement was dirt cheap and quit days after I received it ;-) This one is an early 'cartoon' model that came out before the Soviet Union disolved... I grabbed it because I kind of like the 'Peterhof' name ;-) This one, a Raketa from deep in the Soviet era was a gift. It was a non runner but when I plucked a big black dust bunny from the movement, it started running!... This is a picture of taken after I used an ink eraser on the dial... This is really a pretty kool watch and I doubt that even a nuclear blast could stop this thing from running
