I have a Galaxy III which I know is capable of better results on Macro than the grainy, crappy images I'm always posting, especially the dial shots . . . can anyone please give me an idea of settings etc to obtain clearer, crisper close up shots using the macro setting . . . or do I have that arse backwards as well ?? Thanks in advance folks, Dawg.

Wish I could help you, but I have an iPhone. So the G3 has a macro setting?

Does it require a tap on the screen, to choose a focal point?

It does that by holding down the button I'm pretty sure, unless I've been missing something all along . . . I'll go and have a squiz now.

With the iPhone, once you have your subject on the screen, you tap the screen on the exact location you want the focus. Sometimes, I believe it will focus on the nearest part, which might be the bezel instead of the dial.

Checked that out mate, all good there, might mess about with ISO settings and a few other things, thanks for the input Tim.

My S2 doesn't really take very good macro shots, either.
I had a Samsung Memoir for a few years before the S2, and it took great macro pics. Both 8MP. I just don't think the Galaxies take very good macro stuff.
Amazing...my phone isn't even two years old and it is already two generations out of date!

I have a Motorola Droid Razr and it takes crappy pics most of the time! The shoot button is on the screen to the right and it's hard to focus and shoot! I really want a Galaxy S-4 but I'm not eligible for one until a year from now! I hear they take awesome pics. By the time I'm ready to up-grade tho they will probably have a Galaxy S-10
