So, still persuading my interest in compatibility between Seiko cases.
Next question, will the movement from say a 6106-7710fit into a 6309 case? After all they both have crowns at 4 o'clock & their day/day configuration is at 3 o'clock.
Or am I over simplifying this, I usually do......................

The movement should fit, but the quickset wont work properly.

The movement should fit, but the quickset wont work properly. Not only will quickset not work properly, it may also cause day/date change issues since the quickset may stay engaged. Beyond that, the stem would be a major issue. If you're looking for a drop in you should stick with a 63xx for auto or 754x for quartz (7559 can be used for parts, but has a light that's engaged by pressing the crown).

The 6309 requires a movement with a quickset that is actuated with a turn of the crown. Push-to-set quickset movements won't work with the spring loaded or two-piece stems that divers require for their crowns to screw down. Why not just use a 6309? I can understand subbing a 6105, as they are a rare movement to find outside of a diver, but the 6309 is as common as dirt. Probably produced in the millions. With regard to crown position on the 6309, all you need to do when going from a 3 o'clock to 4 o'clock crown or vice versa is change the daywheel. A daywheel from a 4 o'clock watch will not line up in a 3 o'clock watch, and a daywheel from a 3 o'clock watch will not line up in a 4 o'clock watch.
