Just put this one on today, and realized the chapter ring is not lined up. I thought these had notches to line them up, yes? Dangit, now I gotta fix it. Attachments:

Yes, there is a notch in the ring and a tab on the dial. It is, unfortunately easy to not get them meshed properly. If the notch is rotated away from the small cutout in the case, there is nothing for the dial tab to sit in.
It's and easy fix; remove the movement and with a pin or other small instrument, spin the ring so the notch is once again in the center of the cutout in the case. Replace the movement and it should now be perfectly aligned 7dfe79adc2f0

To my knowledge and perhaps someone who knows better then I do but there are no notches to line them up or hold them into place! I have had that happen before and you just have to take off the back and rotate the ring with your finger to get it lined back up! Just be careful tho or you are likely to get your fingerprints on the crystal.

Tim, the ring is rotated a bit. There's a tab on the dial at 2:00 that drops into the notch on the underside of the chapter ring. they just need to be aligned again. What happens a lot is that these watches aren't assembled properly during this or that service or by someone who doesn't know what they're doing, and they mis-align the chapter ring, and crank down the caseback. This bends down the tab on the dial. Then, after this, it becomes much easier for the ring to be mis-aligned. For example, this is almost always the case with 7549 golden tunas. Of all of them I've worked on, only one has not had a bent dial tab. This is a simple thing to get right, yet so many people get it wrong. No idea why.

All better... The tab was bent slightly down, but still fell into place nicely. It wasn't bent enough to mess with, and I'd rather not mess up the dial anyway. Not sure how it moved, we shall see if it stays in place now. Attachments:

Well Peter answered the question but I dont recall any notches! Here is the tab that fits in the notch... And here is the notch located in the cutout... If you didn't notice the notch it was likely because it was not lined up in the cutout. That is most likely how Tim's example ended up misaligned.
