I just found out because apparently I live under a rock that there are several "Arnie" watches. Like, screen-worn models, worn by Arnie, in actual Arnie movies. If you're reading this and saying "no duh", trust me I feel dumb. However, if like me you didn't know this, there's hope! You can spend hundreds and hundreds of dollars getting a Seiko H558 "Arnie", or you can drop about twenty bucks at get the Casio AMW320 as worn by Arnie himself in "Kindergarten Cop" and "Last Action Hero". I had no idea. But I bought one, the correct early one with the separate chapter ring and the buttons on opposite sides of the case. These were said to be cased / made in Japan, and I don't know if that's true, but every bit of this thing that has a place name on it says "JAPAN". Case quality is nice. Dial and hands, not so much, but the module is OK. Mine was cheap, like $26 with shipping, and once I put a battery in it fired right up. Gigantic, at 46mm, so I don't know that it'll get much wrist time, but I will put it with my H558 in my "movie watches" case, and appreciate it.

I thought about getting one these, back when I was in my "rage against the mechanicals" phase. By chance I happened to see one in the wild and, maybe it was just the guy who was wearing it, but I thought it wore bloody huge and looked ridiculous on him. Doesn't look too bad in your photos though (oops, just re-read your post more closely and you mention that it is, indeed, huge). Still, from memory, this is one of very few ana-digis with an all-metal case which you can buy new today, which put it at the top of my "practicality at all costs" watch list.

Just for your info........ that very same Casio comes in a harder to find Black dial as well! While they carry the same model number, they are different watches. Spencer's is the first gen and rare model that uses the same module as the older AQ-600W(the two opposing buttons). Yours is a later model with a different module(check out the button position. Heaven only knows why Casio used the same model number for such divergent watches

I've got the updated AMW320 in PVD...different indices....but I got it for $6.00 at a local flea market....all it needed was a battery....and I changed the strap to a Brady Sailcloth with red accents to match the seconds hand.

You may be correct but I have always been told the Black dialer is the harder to find of the 2 It's true, the black dial model like Spencer's is definitely hard to find... The model you have is common and easy to find. ePrey is full of them.

They are not common at all! The Casios however are a dime a dozen!

I have no idea where you are looking but eBay has loads of your model...it's as common as beach sand. There are no fewer than 18 auctions for these currently running on eBay with BINs between $60 and $75!

I was gonna pull the trigger on a gold dialed one when I saw it at a Duty Free shop here in the PI. Good thing I had internet connection on my phone as I saw them cheaper on online sites. This part of my journey the watch gods has been good to me allowing me to own these iconic ana-digis John Attachments:

Lol, the new style black one isn't rare. They are at walmart, target, everywhere. Google Casio AMW320R-1ev, you can still get one for around $40.
yeah, the older Frankenstein styles are the "rarer" ones... Still not hard to find, but hard to find in good shape.

I gather they got this monicker because of the 'neck bolts'

I read that to be correct it had to be the first gen one, with the button on opposing sides. I went on eBay, and there one was for BIN plus shipping under $30, so I bought it. Is this one of these things where "rare" doesn't mean "valuable"?

'Rare' is once again abused Your model is not as prevalent as it was replaced by the later models which have been/were in production for a lot longer. I suspect that many if not most of the 100s of thousands made have felt the ravages of time and been discarded. The light coloured dial models appear to be easier to find than the black dial ones unlike the newer gen ones that are as common as fleas on a dog. Looking at the completed sales you can see that most of the newer type sells for anywhere between $15 and $100 with the median being around $30 - $40. I haven't seen any of the first gen ones like yours in either coloured dials so they are definitely not as common.

But still it appears that I got lucky to have said "huh I want one" and then found one immediately, within minutes.
