Cheers Tim. I wanted to take some Pictures of the 900 year old castle in Carrickfergus but the weather wasn't looking good and I didn't fancy a 7 mile ride home in the pissing rain in shorts and a t-shirt. Of course by the time I got home the sun was out again. Next time...

My wife and I, would love to take a trip to Ireland...hopefully some day. I'd love to do some research, and see where my family originated.

I always enjoying seeing those European "farms" where the lot line is a tree line. All you see over here is barbed wire on metal posts or pink ribbons with "No Hunting" signs.

Apologies for the lack of further updates, the weather here has been miserable the last week. Typical N Ireland summer... The days have been spent watching the Tour De France and occasionally working on watches. Here's a picture from yesterday with a SNZF91 and a vintage Mafa diver on the bench - The WSWT has been on my wrist most days since it arrived and its lost about two minutes in the last week so could do with some further regulation since its recent service. I could do this but as its not my watch I'm reluctant to open the case. Besides, it will probably be coming to the end of its journey soon and back in Tony's hands. Its not a watch I've ever considered buying as I'm almost exclusively a diver watch guy, but I have enjoyed wearing it. The case is a decent size and very comfortable and I do like a white dialed watch. My only criticisms are the the hands are not the most legible; I prefer black painted hands on a white dial rather than silver, and the crystal sits very high with no bezel to protect the edges. I imagine it wouldn't take long for a door frame to take a bite. Other than that its a very nice piece and in remarkable condition considering the age of it. Many thanks to Tony for offering it up to the forum The forecast here is grim for tomorrow but better on Sunday so hopefully I'll get the chance to get out and about again and take some more pictures. Cheers, Dave

Soooo... Probably time for another update. As previously mentioned the weather here has been miserable for this time of year and I don't think there's much interest here in me showing pictures of the WSWT with a TV in the background. Today was supposed to be showers with sunny spells and it was raining in the morning but when the sun came out in the afternoon I grabbed my mountain bike and headed into Belfast. Rather than taking the direct and considerably flatter route I decided to take the long way up to the top of Cave Hill overlooking the city and take some pictures. After about 4 1/2 miles and 1000ft of climbing I arrive at the entrance to the back of the hill - And a quick wrist shot - The above picture shows why there are no other shots with the watch; The short focal length on my phone camera will either focus on the watch and have a blurry background or vice versa. Sorry . About a mile further and I'm now at the highest point of the hill at around 1300ft overlooking Belfast - Looking south and you can see the Mourne mountains and Sleive Donard, the highest peak in N Ireland about 40 miles away - Looking NE over Belfast lough towards Holywood and Bangor. Look carefully at the hills on the opposite side of the lough in the middle of the picture and you might be able to make out the golf course where a certain world number one golfer learnt his trade - And out towards the mouth of the lough. The hills you see over the horizon are in Scotland. And then facing north in the direction where I came from and towards the hills where my last round of pictures were taken - Peering over the edge - Zooming on the docks area of Belfast where you can make out the two large yellow cranes in the shipyard known as Samson and Goliath. A gratuitous bike pic and then time for the descent into Belfast - The Crown Bar, arguably the oldest pub in Belfast and the only bar in the UK owned by the National Trust - A few hundred yards away we come to the Ulster Hall. It holds about 1000 people and I've seen some great bands here over the years, the most memorable ones being Alice In Chains, Faith No More and Slayer for being awesome, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers for being just about the worst band I've ever paid money to watch. It's also the venue where Led Zeppelin performed Stairway To Heaven to an audience for the first time - Belfast City Hall - Then I leave the city centre and head over the the Titanic Quarter. Here's a shot of the marina, not quite as glamorous as Monte Carlo... The SS Nomadic, the last ship made by White Star Line the makers of the Titanic - Cave Hill in the distance to the left and the Titanic visitor centre to the right - The building where the Titanic was designed - And Titanic studios where much of Game Of Thrones is filmed www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-33573492 - Then its back through Belfast and homewards - An old derelict chapel surrounded by new apartments - I follow the cycle path that runs along the coastline and take a final shot of Cave Hill - And from the same spot but looking back towards the city - The path follows the coastline for about 5 miles and then turns left through mostly woodland and takes me within 100 yards of my door. Here's the last picture I took of the viaducts near Monkstown, about two miles from home - And that's it for this installment folks. If the weather is good tomorrow I'll try to get up to Armoy for the road racing practice and qualifying and get some shots of motorbikes racing at up to 190mph on country lanes (its the national sport here) and take the scenic route along the coast. Probably be pissing it down though... Until next time

Great tour! Every time I see great posts like these I realise how inadequate my own posts, while the traveler was with me, were. Nice area!

Love the tour of Belfast mate! I used to spend a fair bit of time there back in the late 90's and I always remember it fondly. Great to see a nice bit of mountain biking too!

The World Traveler arrives in London for the next stage of its epic journey... To explain... A quick 'practice shot' in my garden as I don't want to look a wally when I'm taking pics later today up in town!

Ha ha. Anyone taking pics of their watch in public looks like a wally. No way around it. Looking forward to seeing more of London Funkster.

I thought it necessary to commence with the obligatory welcome from The Monarch Then I realised I had focussed on the watch rather than Her Highness I stand corrected

Strange looks while taking photos of watches is a WIS problem, if ever there was one.
