EDIT:
H239, not A239.I am now the proud owner of FIVE different non or mostly non-working Seiko H239s. I must have $200+ worth of non-functional examples of these, from dress models, to a silverwave, to the one I picked up the other day for too much money. I literally haven't seen one that worked correctly. Anyone else have these? Collect them? Have any tips? Why do I keep buying them? Newest boondoggle:

That's an odd one, can't say that I've ever seen one like it.

In my limited experience I have never seen one of those.

In my limited experience I have never seen one of those. It's weird. They're not common, and they almost are never working that I can see, yet there's always a scrum for them. I own at least five, possibly more, and not one was cheap. I don't even know why I like them, or why I keep buying them. They almost always seem to have some kind of weird power drain problem, where the LCD will work fine as long as the analog side is getting no power, but once both are powered the LCD will be barely visible, if it works at all.

That is an H239, not an A239. The A239 is a World Time. I only have one or two, including this one...

That is an H239, not an A239. Dammit! You know what I meant anyway. H for Hybrid is how I should remember it yet I never do.

It's just all I had time to post before I left. Most of the time when I see these the digital portion still works but the analog part has taken a shit. What is wrong with yours? Seiko had packed a lot of tech into these when the came out in 1979-1980, and I think it made them a bit fragile.

I've always gotten numbers / dates etc tangled up in my mind, and oftentimes I'll write a model number or an amount or a part number and flip stuff around. Maddening. All of mine have essentially the same problem: the LCD works great... as long as the analog side isn't powered. Once the analog side is powered, the LCD fades to near invisibility, if it works at all. Massive power drain somewhere.

Hi Could well be just dirt in the drive train of the analogue so its taking more power than normal to make it tick, I've not had a h239 apart so can't say if it's an easy job or not, . seikola
