So excited to finally get a 6139-6005 in great shape. Here's a pic from my iphone but it looks almost new to me. One small scratch on the crystal. All functions work. I think it's the original band too. I picked it up from the box and it started working. I was looking for a user manual for this as this is my first chronograph. I think I have the functions figured out but if anyone has a link to manual that would be great. Ill test it with the twixt ap to see how accurate it is after all these years! I really like this one! Here's a pic. Attachments:

Great watch and one of Seiko's finest. I find myself often wearing mine and i just love the play of light off the dial.

After looking at the watch more the inner bezel rotates, the push date/day functions, the chronograph buttons work as well and it's in good shape it seems but when I try and set the time I pull out the crown and when I turn the crown to move the hands clockwise they turn for maybe a quarter turn around the face before the hands stop moving and if I continue to turn the crown it will unscrew? It appears also that if I turn the crown so the hands turn counterclockwise that works no problems though I did not do that more than a couple turns before I figured I better find out if this watch needs service or is it an operator error? Thanks!

Thanks! It definitely needs a service, the crown should not unscrew. Don't turn the crown any more than you have to and get it to Spencer tout suite

Thank you! I'll PM Spencer tomorrow and won't touch it. I really like this watch and hope he can make it right again. I thought it was in good working order when I initially inspected it. Thank you again!

Thank you again! It's an old watch and simple things like old oil hardening up can cause what seem like big problems but when they are taken care of properly, they really are no more a big deal than having an oil change in your car Spencer knows these watches and movements inside-out 7dfe79adc2f0

Congrats! That one looks like a peach, and is a later example of this model. Seiko made several subtle changes to this model from 1969-1979, and I'd bet the serial number dates yours somewhere between '74 and '79. As to the crown unscrewing, it's not really that big of a deal. Spencer should be able to set that right pretty easily. The crown is just loose. But if the movement is significantly gummy, particularly the cannon pinion, that could explain why the crown came loose. It needs the crown tightened at best, and the movement serviced at worst. Once serviced and resealed, however, it will be trouble-free for the foreseeable future. These are great watches, and very under-appreciated. That one is a nice score! I doubt it will be your last vintage Seiko, so welcome to the madness!

Honestly? I think the watch has been 'lightly restored' at some time in the past. Lume not 100% right and not sure about the inner bezel. Anyway I'm just saying it as I see it and I am more than likely wrong! Don't get me wrong it's a nice watch! I think those blue dials are my favourites out of all the 6139-600x series. The blues just go pop at night with all the colours in the dial. Congrats. This is my NOS ' 78 watch to compare the lume with
