But it was worth it! After doing work on other people's watches, I took a little time for myself and opened up a box that arrived today. Six hours of work later, here we are. This showed up as a parts lot. Hands / dial / movement in one lot, case in the other. I bought both. The movement was incomplete, missing the chrono bridge, minute-counter intermediary wheel, balance, winding bridge et al, and the stem. But on the plus side it had the caseback sticker still in place. I haven't done anything to it cosmetically. Just rebuild it and reassembled. It is much nicer than it looks in this shot. 6138-3009, February 1972.

One of the nicest Seiko's from the 1970's and a great size, subtle looks but striking in the right light. This one looks just lovely and is a credit to your work! We should do a small article on the differences between the 6138-3000-9 and the 6138-3002-5 as these are almost identical in appearance. My 23J for comparison.

Great looking watch. One of my favourite chrono's.
Very clean and crisp case.
One day I will need to add one of these to the collection.

Very nice. This is the model that first got me looking at vintage Seiko a few years ago but I still haven't found one worth restoring!

In the cold light of day, waking up, I remembered what I'd done the previous night. I found this on my nightstand: That beats the heck out of waking up with a hangover and a fat chick!
