Hi,
I did a quick Sushi search and got no hits so I'd thought I'd post/ask about this.
Does anyone have a Casio MDV106-1A? I just got one and I am blown away at the quality for the price.
Now don't get me wrong, it's a cheaper Japanese Quartz Submariner clone. But for approx $40 (Amazon) it goes way beyond expectation. The finish is pretty professional looking. It's quality stainless steel. It has an aluminum uni bezel. The black dial has white applied markers on what I can best describe as 'sunburst' finish that catches light in all sorts of ways and besides the Casio name and a swordfish and depth logo is pretty sterile. The hands are a variation of Sword hands--lume doesn't blow you away, but works. And the Seconds hand has a red tip which really contrasts with the dial--its a unique Submariner homage/clone dial and hand configuration which isn't like much else I've seen . There is even a chapter ring which offsets the dial, looks great. Mine hits (most) of the seconds markers with the quartz engine--at some point I will open it up to get a better look at whats ticking. It looks and feels much more expensive than it was.
Here are the Casio site specs:
200M Water Resistant
One-way Rotating Bezel
Screw-down Crown
Screw-lock Back
Mineral Glass
Date Display
3-Hand Analog
Accuracy: +/-20 seconds per month
Battery SR626
Approx. battery life: 3 years
Module 2784
Size of case / total weight
MDV106 48.5 x 44.2 x 12.1mm / 92g

The strap wasn't great so I swapped it for a Nato. After a couple days of wear I believe it to be an excellent daily beater option. There is even a variation with a blue bezel and metal bracelet that I found on Ebay for around $65--that one should be here on Monday, .
I'm still in a 'too good to be true' phase with it and perhaps the hands or markers will have fallen off before weeks end, but for now, if you're looking for a really good deal on a diver I recommend this piece.
Cheers
