SEIKO 5 Sports 4R36-02N0 (SARZ047) 50th Anniversary Limited Edition
This piece is available in a number of colours, I went for the blue one. There is also a white (SARZ045) and black (SARZ049). If there's any others feel free to add.
The piece itself is very well made. It wears large (42mm without crown). The bracelet is very fat, 22mm tapering to 20mm. The buckle is a butterfly style with side button release and a safety clasp. There is a display back with the 50th anniversary and the production number + serial number on the back. Water resistance is 10bar.
The piece is heavy, it would weigh probably over 100 grams. The crystal is a very nice and slightly domed. The crown is similar to the KS style crown but is a bit larger, The feel of the crown is very nice, it clicks out firmly and has a very satisfying feel when turned. When hand winding, there is a nice confident "buzz" sound. The dial is a very attractive deep blue and is a radial metallic finish. The batons are a bright chrome with sharp strips of lume across them. The hands are stylised versions of the common handsets from the old 7006/7009 series. In my opinion they are a little too fat and this lets the piece down. The second hand is slender and has the "5" logo built into the tail end of it. The SEIKO and "5" logos are applied metal pieces. The SPORTS is printed in a nice bright red which contrasts well with the blue of the dial. The dial ring is not movable and is for decoration only. It is colour matched to the dial.
The bracelet is very good quality, although I'm a little disappointed with the style, it is very generic and plain. I think a modern H link style would have been better, or even a cool rally style bracelet. it is very comfortable to wear on a daily basis. the model number appears to be MOSX-Z-I. It is a solid-link bracelet, The bracelet end pieces are folded stainless steel but are a shade thicker than most folded end pieces.
The movement is the 4R36, which is a mid-range version of the base model 7S26. it features 24 jewels, hacking and handwinding. it runs at 21600bph. There's a load of info on this movement on the internet so I'll keep this short.
OK so here's some pictures of the blue one, if people have the others, I guess add them -
