I attended the WatchBuys roadshow at a hotel room in the St. Regis in SF yesterday, and had a chance to look through a collection of Sinn, Nomos, Dornbluth&Sohn, and a few other pieces.
Didn't fall in love with anything, but it was nice to see the watches in the metal.
Below are some shots from the viewing with notes.
The main Sinn table. Sinn's dominated the event, with a handful of Nomos (with the new diver conspicuously absent) and 2 Muhle's.
A trio of Dornbluths:
This pocket watch was one of the cooler pieces on display. Nice form factor and finishing.
This 556 is a limited release, originally commissioned for a group in the German military.
Sinn was given permission to release a handful to the public. If I didn't already have a 556 I might have grabbed this one.
The Dornbluth&Sohn Centerseconds. Very nice dial - not captured well here - and I love the second hand.
Still, with a 42mm case that's all dial, it leaves a lot of real estate, and I prefer my 99.1
The EZM10. Most disappointed by this one. Insert and pushers were plasticky, and I didn't care for the strap.
The UX - good for basically any reachable depth. Great utilitarian feel.
You couldn't tell the case was fluid filled.
The 956 Klassik. Picture isn't great. Kept coming back to this one - good size and the colored PR goes great with the cream dial.
Nomos Zurich World Timer. Not really my bag, but my favorite among the (overly?) simple Nomos collection.
Overall a nice casual event - the watchbuys staff was friendly and great about answering questions at length.
I recommend going if one swings by your neck of the woods. Cheers.
