Hey all.
I am new to the forum, but frequent many of the other watch forums. Recently I have been bitten hard by the fact that there are many great watches that don't cost thousands of dollars and as such I am adding some neat pieces to my collection.
My next purchase is going to be either a SCEB009. Pros - I like the bull head shape, it's modern, and it has a 12hr counter. Cons - it appears to be a bit bulky, and I haven't seen the dial in person which appears to be a bit too grey.
Or, a Alpha Paul Newman... pros - hand wind, and just cool looking. Cons - i fear it may be a POS in reality, 30min counter.
or, a Pogue. Pros - I have a collection with a heavy space influence and obviously this is missing, looks, auto. Cons - I am wary of franken watches.
Thanks for letting me write all this down...

Welcome aboard. I vote Pogue. They are just awesome, and will go up in value. Buy the right watch and you will never regret it. They have been cool for the last 45 years, and will always be cool. Not a fan of Alphas. Seems all they make is knock-offs. I have heard the Bullhead is a bit on the chintzy side...especially the bracelet. Cool watch, but not a very good value. YMMV.

I'd go Pogue also. Bullet proof Seiko auto movement that can be serviced by any number of posters here. Clearly cool beyond most. Lots of people here are experts and can steer you to a good one if you ask before buying.
I'm blessed to have one that my Dad got as a birthday present from my Mom back in '72. He wore it and gave it to me, I wore it for years until the stem broke. I threw it in a drawer for many years until I found a site on the web where I met Shawn C. who gifted me a stem and offered to install it. He got the watch, did the work and recommended that I send it to Spencer for a service. It now runs like a champ and makes me smile every time I wear it!

Pogue gets my vote too. There is loads of info available to help you avoid buying a Franken. If in doubt, don't be afraid to ask.

Mu vote also goes for the Pogue. I just recently got one and couldn't be happier. It's presently out for a complete servicing and restoration so I'm looking forward to seeing it when it's done. Good luck in your hunt.

Thanks guys!
My heart is telling me the same, but I have such a hard time pulling the trigger on eBay watches. I guess I need to take the plunge.
Other then eBay and the usual forums, is there some place else I should look for the Pogue?
I believe there is a very nice example for sale here, but the dial isn't quite the one I am looking for and IMnoviceO it appears to be a bit pricey.
As a newbie, if I started a "help me buy a Pogue" thread and threw up some links occasionally, would that be ok?

Can't go wrong with a 6139-600X. I've owned one since before they were ever referred to as a "Pogue"
